Poor Nissan Servicing @BukitTimah  Posted on 09-Jun-2023
Very frustrated with the servicing at Nissan Service Centre @Bukit Timah. Came for the usual 6mth servicing and we ordered to change the air-con filter. And, guess what. After that, we almost drove off when we realised there was a continuous "Whistling" Sound from the engine motor after inserting the filter and cleaning work. Told us to come the next day because the service guy had left so they cannot check the filter positioning. Imagine, from Pasir Ris to Bukit Timah, 25km drive. We had to change our day' schedule to go there and now they say our car motor needs to change. It seems our motor has suddenly worn off. It's under warranty but still we have to spend another half day here. First time we hear such things after owning several other car models. Very disappointed with the servicing here and the service supervisor.

Took my Qashqai for car service in 2020, one of the lamp was blown out and I was aware of it. When I collected my car, the quality checklist indicated that they have checked all the lighting of the car which they clearly did not because they were not aware of the blown-out light only until I inform them! How can their technician miss out on a simple exterior check with a checklist in hand! Making me doubt their service.

Recently, went for a free car diagnosis as my Qashqai RPM metre was fluctuating. Told by the technician that my fan belt tensioner is causing wheezing noise, leaking turbo air tube and faulty electronic power steering. My car had that wheezing noise every I got the car and now that it has recently passed its 5th warranty year, they are telling me this problem? I have been there been do servicing ever since I have gotten the car and none of them informed me of this issue? Did it take them 6 years to realise this problem?

Worst of all, I was telling the technician that this wheezing noise has been present shortly after I have gotten the car and he replied me "Oh ok nevermind, next problem is.....".
Will never get a Nissan, especially from Tan Chong motor.

Nissan NV200 - Bad service from Toa Payoh Branch  Posted on 16-Mar-2021

Vehicle sent in on the 12th of March for regular servicing and inspection. They cleared it and said everything was okay. Four days later 16th of Mar (van not used during 13th and 14th due to weekend) ignition coil short circuited and NV200 had problems. Tan Chong kindly asked for $599 for ignition coil replacement. They said it has nothing to do with them.

The previous servicing - same thing happened - right after servicing - aircon failed

I am starting to wonder if they didnt do anything, maybe the condition would have been better. If they didnt check, actually the van had no issues. After checking, more problems arose.

As with other reviews i agree that TC loves to push away problems but they are very interested in the money.

Sorry to say - but i will never buy anything from them or use any service from Tan Chong Motors. If anyone wishes to use them, you have been warned.

Very bad and poor experience so far

Tan Chong like to push Al the problem away.

My complaint Ton TC:

They had no idea whether the problem lies in the Gearbox or whatever - My rpm fluctuate during cruising and your staff concluded that there is no issue and asked me to come back Tan Chong again when issue arises. Hello, the issue was there all along, you never rectify and resolve it yet you are telling me that there isn't any issue? Did you test drive it after checking? I have sent my car in from warranty period till now and that the warrant is currently out of warranty yet no one can rectify the root cause. This CVT gearbox of Nissan has a well known problem among the owner yet all I received from the staff was that there is no issue and that there is a no need to resolve it. Issue is not being rectified and what's worst was my time and money was wasted.

Car seat noise- during warranty period the SA told me this problem can't be resolved but after warranty period another SA told me that they able to change the frame for $1k+. This is also another well known problem among Qashqai owner!

Dashboard vibration - Tester said finisher problem and can't be solve. Nissan quality? I think Kia Picanto has a better finisher.

We paid so much for a car that gave us so much problem and yet Nissan can tell us that you can't solve the issue?! This is a Nissan not a Chery QQ! This is totally unacceptable.

I'm going to sell it and this is gonna be my last Nissan.

Serious lapse in vehicle service standards at Tan Chong Motors  Posted on 02-Mar-2020

My current car is the first car I purchased since getting my driving license. I chose a Nissan car for its reliability, Tan Chong Motor's track record of being Nissan's dealer and vehicle workshop in close proximity of my residence in Bukit Timah.

I bought the Nissan service package, despite protest from my husband. I believed that no one would be more knowledgeable in servicing a Nissan vehicle than Nissan service centre staff. There were no issues with service standards till two years back (2018 if I remember correctly).

It is standard practice for us to send the vehicle for servicing prior to vehicle inspection. In 2018, two days or so after servicing the vehicle, the engine warning light came on. The vehicle was returned to the service centre and we were told that a critical engine component had failed.

Last year, we sent the vehicle for inspection right after collecting the car from the service workshop. The vehicle inspection centre informed us that the fuel tank was leaking. We were shocked to say the least. My question is, how can the service centre staff miss such an important and dangerous fault? We subsequently has to change the fuel tank, a second hand one under the advisement of the staff.

This year, we sent the vehicle to another workshop as the service package has run out and there's only a year to go before the expiration of the vehicle COE. We were told that the fuel tank is leaking. This came as a shock to us as it was changed less than a year ago. We have no idea when the leak started. An appointment was made to send the vehicle in for servicing.

You can imagine the shock and dismay when we are told that the warranty has run out on the tank and that we have to procure a new one from Japan or try to get another second hand one. We are frustrated and furious at the turn of events.

1. The lapse in servicing has caused us unneccessary time wastage and loss of vehicle usage in the past two years.
2. If there was an option to procure a new fuel tank, why was this not given as an option to us.
3. The fuel tank was replaced less than a year ago by Nissan service workshop. Presumably, it had been checked for serviceability and it was installed by workshop service staff, so why is it still leaking.
4. I will not accept that we have to pay to replace the tank again after less than a year of usage. The vehicle only has one more year to go before being scrapped. Anyone in our shoes would feel frustrated that money has to be spent again on a component that we have already replaced recently!

We are frustrated and miffed that Tan Chong Motors has not lived up to its reputation of being able to provide reliable servicing and vehicle parts despite us paying a premium for them. We would like someone to take ownership of this issue and resolve it.

Totally disappointed with the poor customer service of Tan Chong Motors! 4hrs for a simple car service and if I had not called to ask, most probably would have been even longer dispite the service personnel informing that it will take about 2-3hrs. And when I gave feedback ito the service manager Leila, she told me this is the normal servicing time as it usually takes 1/2day or more! Not only was she not apologetic but she totally shuts off and doesn't even bother to respond! If the customer service manager behaves such and gives such poor customer service, what more can one expect of their staff??

Anyone in consideration of getting a Nissan car should give serious consideration as one would be faced with such for the next few years! The car is good but Tan Chong sucks! As for me, total regrets!! Last Nissan car for me!

Car send for service on 27/9 and collect vehicle on 28/9. Recieved sms from service centre on 28/9 at about 1130 hrs, car ready for collection. Car after services was not even wash and clean when it was pick up at 1730 hrs, wasted 15 minutes waiting for car to be washed after complaining to reception. If such basic service cannot be check how to trust Nissan QA/QC system.

Expected better work processes and technical knowledge, but 101% disappointed. Costly yet unreliable. First servicing returned with paintwork scratches on side and back of car. Service advisor uses polisher to touch up. Second service technician insisted start motor faulty without specific diagnostic tests, despite the fact that I have been able to start engine 99% of the time over the past months. Reverse sensor with occasional continuous beeping sound instead of intermittent beeps. Technician apparently adjusted level of sensor eyes and now completely faulty without beeps. When return to seek answers, told to change the set and quoted for charges. Also discovered dirty cloth in boot plus front under carriage cover not secured properly and was dangling near the front right tyre. I felt like an idiot to have signed their 2-year maintenance contract. Now hoping to get through with remaining service without further problems and having to seek more justice through the press or other consumers protection or legal channels. I have posted feedback through their service feedback/complaints website on 22 Dec 2010, but no one has contacted or reply an email reply to date.

Driving a Nissan Latio and I must say Tan Chong overall service is acceptable. A few issue is that nowadays the mechanic is too rely on the computer diagnostic and forgotten that still many parts are not detectable by the computer. I did a few time visit to complaint on my engine noise before the finally rectify my alternator is faulty. Really hope they would be more attentive to customer rather than having customer coming back a few times to solve the problem.

Sent in my car for normal servicing. I gave instructions to the service adviser that it was unnecessary to change the wiper blades as I had just replaced them a few days before. However, when I collected my car back from the service centre, the wiper blades were actually swopped with some old wiper blades from the service centre! When I asked what happened to my new wiper blades, the service adviser nonchalently replied that he had thrown them away, and he said they could be retrieved from the rubbish bin. Such dishonest act from a reputable service centre!

I just left my car early in the morning at Lok Yang branch, but the taxi is really hard to get. Because quite near to expressway also and everybody is rushing to work, finally after ten to twenty minutes, managed to hail a cab.. Although they do provide Bus transport to MRT, still quite inconvinient.

Very long waiting time, somemore cost so much to do the servicing. Only advantage being they are authorized dealers, got reputation to uphold.
