Volvo XC90 3.2 R-Design (A) Review
The ubiquitous school run mobile gets some R-design trinkets and livery to toughen up its image...

XC90 2.5 T `
If it works, its a very good car. Had too many issues i lost count. Safety is the main reason why i was attracted to this SUV, but driving a tank comes at a cost. It came with 3yr warranty and 3yr servicing, which is too short for the potential issues. Eventually Wearnes extended an extra year due to many initial issues.

Surprised Improvement & Power `
I bought a Volvo few years back, S40. Used for couple of months and sold...consumption too high. Have been looking for a 7 seater after sold my MPV. M5 was too cramp and ML350 only has 2 rows......Recently tested the XC90 T5, Polestar and surprised by the performance. I deliberately brought my son, 15 YO and asked him to get to the 3rd row seats. And he gave the thumbs up..and took it. Have been driving the T5 for over a month and have no regret. Consumption was better than expected and lots of push with the polestar upgrade. It was raining quite heavy on few days and I applied some Rain-X just to see better. Excellent road holding and totally confident with it. Feel was drastically different with the Jap MPV. Certainly worth considering for those looking for SUV and 6th, 7th seats.

You hate to say that you actually love it. `
I am in Australia. When I bought my Volvo, got a lot of brickbat from friends because Volvo drivers have a bad reputation for driving badly because they feel they are in a very safe car. I was not planning to buy this but could not get a decent third row seats in other SUVs. When test drive it, I immediately fall in love with it. I've driven this vehicle for 6 hours straight without stopping. That is how comfortal it is and no one in the car seems to be in need of toilet break. 3.2L is sufficient. Handle beautifully on the road and for pick up. I've clock 170km/h without any problem. Would have gone faster but just wary of kangaroos jumping across the road. Drove 30+ km on the beach sand/sea. Model still a head turner after so many years. Kudos to Volvo so that older car does not look out dated. A 2003 and 2009 cars don't look that much difference. For Japs car, u get outdated within 6 months.

Brilliant mix of SUV and MPV, a seven-seater that looks cool and offers terrific... `
Other SUVs concentrate on going off-road or being sporty, but the Volvo XC90 is king of comfort and versatility, with brilliant seating arrangements. The XC90 has good seating quarters for seven people, and the ride is generally serene. Up front you've all the usual Volvo benefits in superb seats and great controls, plus excellent visibility.Cooler than a luxury MPV perhaps, but that's clutching at straws.Well Volvo has been making these for years so should have most of the faults ironed out. And the general feel to the cabin, even though it's old, is still that it's a fresh, decent-quality piece of design. This car isn't meant for swishing around corners with the tyres on fire. It rolls a lot and steers ponderously. You won't get into trouble though, because it has AWD and a load of clever active safety electronics. It's got the 4x4 ability to take you anywhere you'd reasonably want to go, it's got space for seven in what's actually not too cumbersome an overall footprint, the seats fold neatly when you don't need them and it's safe as houses. 'Hard to wish for more'.
