Been driving a 1.6(A) for 2 plus years with about 56,000km. Here is a short list of issues
1) Auto trans valve body changed under warranty at around 22,000 km. Still within the first 12 months.
2) Engine knocks and pings even on 98 RON fuel. Has been going on since the first year I got the car.
3) Poor service rendered by the dealer. As always, there does not seem to be anything wrong with the car each time it is brought in. Owner must be hearing things.
4) Odd rattling noises from the interior of the passenger cabin.
5) Tappet noise heard even after the engine has warmed up. But has anyone checked if the valve lifters are worn? Guess not, since the answer is always the same,"sir this sound is normal." Also because if the lifters are worn, it would have to be changed under warranty.
6) Fuel consumption is within tolerance but the engine is somewhat unrefined and noisy when it is nudged at little.
Overall, this experience has left a somewhat sour taste in my mouth. I keep going back to the dealer for regular servicing simply because the car is still under warranty and the auto trans has given problems before. I have no confidence in the car at all not to mention the lackluster service I have received. From what I read on the reviews, I must agree, for a little more every month, one could get something better. I would probably not buy another Hyundai for a while.

I had been driving Hyundai Verna 1.4 (M) for nearly 1 year.
The cabin is large enough for a compact car, front seats are large enough and driver won't feel 'cramped' as the door trims are designed with reference to European styling.
If you are not an aggresive driver, engine is quiet and fuel consumption is low, average around 13km/l, City:12km/l, H/W:14.5km/l.
Handling is average, suspension is rather soft, steering and brakes are responsive. However, stock tyres are Kumho brand with average grip and rather noisy.
The only little wrong about this car, the features are very basic, no auto folding wing mirrors, no front map reading lamp with sunglass storage compartment and only 1.6 CVVT variant comes with ABS.
Exterior styling features a smiling face when looking at the front view. However, the it is starting to age and Malaysia's Verna (Accent) are more stylish, it comes with wing mirrors with signal lamp and full body kits. Perhaps Komoco should consider launching a 'Sports Version'?
