The Honda Jazz RS may be the most practical and the Seat Ibiza is the most refined overall but the new Suzuki Swift displays a youthful spirit that guarantees smiles.

Went to test drive the 1.5 two weeks ago. As a 1st gen Jazz owner, I am impressed with the new features that is available in the ride that I thought it can only exist in the more expensive car. Same great visibility around the car and the ultra seats provide the same great functionality as ever.

Being said, the drive still feel the same as my current 07 jazz just more powerful with better handling. It was good but I was not inspired to buy this car right away.
Will take a look again when my current jazz expires next year.

What I like
- Advanced features
- Great visibility around the vehicle
- Good boot size
- Start-Stop Function
- Value for money

What I do not like
- Uninspired drive
- Unsightly key hole at the driver side

Test drove the Honda Jazz 1.5 RS today. Cabin was surprisingly spacious despite the car looking rather small. The only downside was a small bootspace as compared to sedan cars, but its reasonably big for a hatchback. 0-100 feels powerful with rapid gear change. Handling seem smooth enough too.

What I like
Century sprint was surprisingly fast for a Cat A vehicle (Approx 9 secs) with a 130bhp engine.

Good fuel consumption (About 17km/L)

Comfortable seats

Enough leg room for rear passengers

Reverse Cam (With wide angle and top view)

What I do not like
Cabin Insulation

Slightly small boot space

2 Air bags only

Owned this car since Sep 2015, which means I have driven this car for 3 months now.

Quick acceleration, lightweight, and good fuel economy. Further, this car only requires Ron 91 which means you don't have to spend more money than necessary. Car is easy to drive too. Averaging 16.9km/l on meter.

On paper, car is 129bhp means this is one of the most powerful Cat A car around.

Kah Motors gave me $500 esso vouchers, which is good news too.

What I like
1. Good FC, can get 700km before refuel lights are on.
2. Looks like MPV from behind.
3. LED headlights, keyless entry, original headunit, engine start/stop button, auto climate, etc.
4. easy to park
5. free blackvue camera from Kah.
6. Made in Japan model.
7. Just 1bhp lower than Cat A limits, which means this car is one of the most powerful Cat A cars.
8. Quiet engine when idle.

What I do not like
1. only 40L tank, unlike other makes which has 50l.
2. body roll quite significant during cornering
3. typical honda noisy engine when accelerated hard.
4. no start-stop engine nor hybrid model available.
5. hassle to connect to iphone via hondalink. at least there's bluetooth.
6. air con seems weak for the front passenger.
7. only 2 airbags by Kah
8. not so value for money compared to some 1.6l sedan which cost less than 100k

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Kah Motor's Richard Ng if you going to get a Honda. Good before and after sales services from Richard.

What I like
1. Its spacious, looks bigger and more stylish than the older one
2. Has most of the new features/accessories available in new cars.
3. Simply love it

What I do not like
1. No dvd player!
2. No GPS Navigation. What a waste of the nice LCD screen!
3. Can't play Youtube from mobile. I wish!
4. Noisy during acceleration.
5. Don't find paddle control useful.
6. Steering wheel could have more functions embedded. I wish!
7. I'm not a big fan of keyless. Keep worrying if my car is locked or whether anyone may open the door once i turn away.

I was surprised when i opened the rear door of the Jazz and found the space to be enormous. You can sit 3 adult in the back seats and they will not complain. The leg room is also excellent.

What I like
The car is easy to drive and of course easy to park. The power of the 1.5cc engine is good and can rev to 6000rpm easily. You cannot really sense the VTEC kicking in but the acceleration will many bigger cars to shame. Of course its petrol friendly.

What I do not like
The engine is noisy when you accelerate. The VTEC has kind of lost it mojo without the "turbo" kick in feel and sound. Power delivery is linear.

Having drove GE7 before, I do find there's much refinement in this version. For one, the look has improved both interior and exterior. The drive is also more responsive thanks to the Earth Dream engine? Unable to tell if it is more fuel efficient from my test ride.

For car in this price range, am surprised Kah Motor did not have an electric rear view mirror! It is still the SAME cheapest possible manual one. Also missing is the rear aircon typical on conti. Yes I am comparing to conti now as KM has priced it so close to VW's offerings...

What I like
new styling
new touchscreen console
SPACE

What I do not like
cost
no rear aircon
"old school" rear view mirror

I got to drive the 1.5RS Jazz for a week and I must say, it is a huge improvement when compared to the 2008 Honda Fit which I'm currently driving. The new Jazz sports a sportier grill and headlights, which gives an overall fiercer outlook to the car. The interior is also one of the best hatchback interior i've been in!

The drive of this hatchback is a dream! it never fails to deliver power everytime you step on the accelerator! overtaking is a breeze with this car.

Cornering at high speed is not a problem with this car at all.

This 3rd gen Jazz is the best compact hatchback I've driven till date!

What I like
- Sporty look & interior
- LED lights
- Earth Dream 7 speed CVT w/ Paddle shifters
- New suspension and torsion beam
- Large passenger leg room
- Large boot space

What I do not like
NIL

At last my previous second generation Jazz has reached it's 5 year service life So it is the time to change car if possible, seem like there is little chance COE price would be lower in near future. My 2nd Jazz have service me for 158,000Km of mileage and the it NEVER give me single failure or issue,So i would said the Honda realiability is not the issue. Good thing is the jazz really retain their reasonable resales value.

When I have it on the road, immendiately it impressed me with it's ride quality, it is feel like those C-Segment car fineness. The previous feeling on my 2nd gen. jazz on road noise & wind noise was Gone ! During heavy raining day, the loud rain drop sound did not happend to this new jazz. You would really feel the car was nicely put together even you go thru the pothole with tight sound you usually experience on European car. When come to highways or bend, this suspension really shine, it would give you comfort and confident feel together with VSA in place.

The New Earth Dream Engine & CVT gear was rather impressive on both Power delivery, Smoothness & fuel Consupmtion. From my first tank of fuel about 36 litres, I managed to travel about 650km Which is about 18km/L in 50% highway , 50% city driving with occassionately heavy foot. By using cruise control, At 60Km, the Rpm return 1400-1500, at 80km the rpm returned 1800, fuel avg=23.8km/L where at 100km the engine rpm was ONLY 2000 and fuel avg=21km/L. So enough said, figure told the story.

For performance, 0-100km acceleration is 9.5 seconds, The acceleration was silky smooth due to CVT, but it also off the traffic light line like AT car due to it having the torque converter. Best part is , above acceleration figure is with 3 adult on the car...The best part is when I travel of highway, i wanna to overtake those 100km/h vehicle, i was think need to rev to 4000rpm to 5000rpm to get the job done. I wrong, it just need 3000rpm+/- and the progress was brisk and easy. It just give me the feel when i overtake with 1.8 Altis.

For LED headlight was really nice and briliant, you can see the thing so clear in dark raining night. As for other equipment, it is still practical and it's boot space was improved. the rear passager can sit comfortly with 2 Punch length++ remained. it is astonishing for such a small hatchback.

3rd Gen. Jazz still the best Hatchback I ever owned

What I like
Car Body & Suspension:
- Improve all aspects of ride quality, handling, steering feel and noise.
- rigidity of suspension mounting points for improved lateral stiffness
- New strut-type front suspension
- New front subframe structure
- New high-rigidity H-type torsion beam rear suspension
- New rear damper design

Engine & Powertrain:
- New Earth Dreams 1.5 DOHC i-Vtec Direct Injection Engine
- New Earth Dreams 7-Speed CVT with Paddle Shift control

Other:
- LED Low Beam Headlight,LED back light, LED daily Running light
- Keyless entry with start/stop engine button
- 7" Hondalink Infotainment LCD console with Bluetooth, HDMI, handphone integration
- Parking assist rear camera
- Cruise control.
- LCD panel Gauge
- 9 Cup holder
- Hand rest for front and back
- Auto Air Con
- "MAGIC SIT"
- VSA

What I do not like
Nothing.

The New Jazz wows with its exterior design and the use of LED headlights. However it joins the list of makers that felt that that's all you need to get customers to end up with this. Honestly speaking, the reason why you'd get the Jazz is due to low depreciation and low cost - to buy, run and maintain. The problem here is that the entire region is focused on offering cars that are lousier and cheaper than this - Thailand Eco car, Indian cheap cars, cars meant for 3rd world country exports. Then we have Singapore - smack in the middle of a developing region with perhaps the best fuel quality, quality people and luxurious cars. Where does Honda Jazz stand? - that's the problem.

The new Jazz feels like it started out trying to keep up with the rest of the European counterparts so heavily focused on advanced design - then gave it up to work on better, more promising cars - at the very least a Vezel and anything bigger. The Jazz was made nice - but they knew it wouldn't make volumes. Net result is a slightly bigger car, new design, no big changes inside, slightly more power from the engine.

Good job? I think not. To put it in perspective - this is just below what people would call a Hot hatch. For a price tag close to hot hatches, a dying 1.5l engine mated to CVT is not a good decision at all.

How it could have been saved? - keep the old 5AT or give it paddle shifters. Putting an RS badge on a i-Vtec engine that simply cannot have Vtec kicking in is just sad. Atleast the old AT had a D3 button.

Not all is lost. The RS we get is actually one of the cheaper variants. The Jazz Hybrid, which is a whole lot better in every way, is the real deal. Besides having a lot more torque and better mileage, it comes with a fully electric air con compressor - every Jazz owner would know how bad the A/C is even with one fat passenger inside. Same issue plagues the new Jazz. That Engine just cannot deliver that cold air.

The Jazz compared to a Hyundai Getz is definitely better, if you really need such a pacifier. Go for the Jazz Hybrid otherwise, even if it's parallel imported. However that price point touches close to Honda Vezel Hybrid - which is still a better buy. If you're not a Honda fan, a Prius C hybrid is still a much better option.

What I like
LED headlights, interior space, well designed bumpers, good body rigidity.

What I do not like
Lack of electric A/C compressor

CVT

Lack of paddle shifters or D3 button

Price vs value is still missing
