My wife just bought the B160. I had test-driven the car twice for added assurance that the 1.5L engine still posseses acceptable power, before committing.
Overall my assessment is that despite a relatively slow initial pickup, the power kicks in very quickly subsequently at about 20-30km/hr. Having said that, all you need to do is to revv up abit (from being stationary) - about 2,500- 3,000 on the revv and the car would take off reasonably.
All other considerations such as features, styling, design, branding, safety feature etc are plus points for a car of this price range of a luxury conti. - the exterior design of this B-class is especially appealing to me.
What I like
Huge interior and space
Almost flat rear passenger leg room
storage everywhere!
Safety features - 6 airbags, sandwich floor feature
Stability and Handling
Reverse camera
What I do not like
only half leather seats as standard
no merc logo displayed on engine
B160 - very nice but underpowered | Posted on 06 Aug 2011 |

Sat in my friend's B160, its totally underpowered. He kept complaining about it. He is totally in love with the interior and exterior styling and the spaciousness but wished he had ordered the B 180 instead
What I like
Nice interior and exterior styling
Blue tooth feature
Spaciousness, more spacious than the C180
What I do not like
underpowered

Test drove the entry model 1.5L
Many features packed into a very compact package
Yet cabin is the most spacious I have ever seen in this class!!
The drive was smooth and solid though power seem a little lacking despite only 3 passengers in the car
The 1.8 and 2.0 variants should do better in the aspect
Build quality as you expect from the Germans is good
What I like
Bluetooth connectivity
Steering wheel controls even for entry model
Very spacious cabin
High seating position.. Cabin height very suitable for elderly
What I do not like
A little underpowered at 1.5L
Not much else
Economical, spacious. and not the typical businessman Merc | Posted on 06 Mar 2011 |

Actually belong to the wife. She loves this car. And I get to drive it when I am in her car.
It is actually very spacious. I thought it would be slightly bigger than the A class. No, it is much bigger. No wonder it is also classified as a 5 seater MPV.
Good engine, responsive and easy to drive. Love all the whistle and bell, even in a standard edition.
Love that Automatic parking feature, although seldom used it.
What I like
For wife, she is short and found this Merc very comfortable. It is ergonomic with high driving position. Good accessories and boot space. BT telephony incorporated into the audio entertainment system makes this vehicle very updated. Cool for ladies driving this.
What I do not like
For tall guys like me, don't like the high leg position due to its sandwich crash-crumple system. Felt the position is like a typical sedan car, which I hate when have been driving large MPV and SUV for many years.

Fuel consumption is about 10km/litre with aggressive driving 50% urban / 50% Highway. it can go till 12km/litre if 30% urban /70% highway
Very little roll during cornering and the transmission is very smooth due to the stepless CVT
Tyre pressure loss function really works and I have experienced it when a nail got stuck into one of my tyres and is an important safety feature especially during high speed driving
Speed adaptive steering is light when parking. BMW steering is noticably heavier than Merc during parking
What I like
Dashboard is very executive looking and even the fonts in the LCD display system looks business class, very very nice looking interior styling.
Ample rear flat leg room even with the front seats pushed back. Cabin and Boot space is extremely generous.
Exterior styling looks fantastic from all angles with the right amount of chrome trimming giving it a sporty aggresive look. You won't think its a "ah Pek " behind the wheels of this merc, in fact I think its the best looking german luxury yuppie hatchback around. Best in silver, stepp brown or mountain grey color, interior black is the right color that projects class.
What I do not like
Nothing. Really, if it came with sunroof as standard, I wouldn't opt for it.
Overall a solid car! Good handling, fuel efficiency and performance | Posted on 18 Feb 2011 |

Somehow the Germans got the style right. B180 is not "loud" but its presence can be felt when the car arrives and you can't help but notice the attention to detail with the right amount of chrome. With the packaged 215/45 R17 and sports rims give it the exact amount of sportiness with good fuel efficiency and ride height.
Internally, the dashboard holds true to what the Germans call " Ordnung " While some may say boring, everything is layed out exactly and neatly, well spaced out, exact amount of aluminium and chrome trim. It reminds me of the erricsson GH 688 phone model, solid ABS black, functional , masculine look. As opposed to some " transformer " looking dashboard with all sorts of lights and function which tries too hard to impress.
Lack of electrical seats are a great thing for me. I rather save all that actuator weight.
Its spacious and comfortable and I love the bluetooth phone feature
The sound system is " Erst Klassig " first class, even without the upgrade system.
Surprisingly, I get better fuel efficiency driving normally rather than trying very hard not to floor the pedal. Strange enough the FC actually improves if you drive aggressively.
What I like
Its a MERC
Whatever is on it is quality !
What I do not like
Nothing

Massive interior space in a relatively small frame. Must see to believe. As much leg rooms as the E-class..and a big useful boot! Excellent cabin quietness. Good handling despite being 'tall'..though steering a bit vague. Nothing to shout about the Power for B170..just rightly adequate for daily commute. CVT transmission is very quiet and smooth. FC is average at about 11L/km. Downside is the high price! Overall a practical and comfortable car for family. Single driver should look elsewhere.

Bought this second hand and have never regretted it! Pick up for the B200 Its spacious and great for ladies who have plenty of shopping and marketing to do. The boot space is great!
What I like
Its a Merc!
Bluetooth function
Boot space
Smooth ride after pick up
What I do not like
Does not have GPS.
Phone keypad is right next to the steerinig wheel and so its hard to see the numbers.
