I have been driving a B&B (Toyota Altis) car for the last 9 years and wanted an upgrade. Looked through various models including MPVs (C4 Grand Picasso, Wish), SUVs (Subaru Forester, Harrier..) and mid-range sedans (Mazda 6, Accord and Camry) but decided that the 216D AT hits the sweet spot of being the right size (spacious boot, sufficient leg room for rear passengers and not having to drive a big 7 seater to work daily when me and wife are the only passengers during weekdays), features, safety, FC.

What I like
- Good FC - I hit an average of 19km/l after 500km traveled so far
- Great acceleration
- Park Assist (for wife)
- Spacious rear passenger seats (slightly more spacious compared to middle row of Grand Tourer)
- Good sound insulation (except run flat tyres - see below)
- Interior design with chrome finishing and LED light on door)
- 3 modes u can trigger - I drive Eco Pro most of the time
- Can go over humps on road easily
- Polarised rear mirror which adapts based on the visibility
- Memory seats with adjustable steering wheel
- Overall ride is smooth even though it is diesel

What I do not like
- Run Flats feels a little noisy
- Diesel clatter obvious from outside the vehicle (not that you care as most of the time you are IN the car)
- Car deceleration from 30km/hr is quite sharp. once you let go of the accelerator (compared to earlier drive where it can continue to free wheel for a longer distance)
- No auto-folding side mirror when lock - need to press the lock button longer for side mirror to autofold

What can you ask for - a 10s century sprint for a diesel car? No other 1.5/1.6 l diesel car can beat this. Can even go 1000 km mileage for full tank with a A4 size 3 Cylinder engine like the ford 1.0l engine. Coupled with a Toyota gearbox for more reliability and many luxury features like lane departure warning, pedestrian and front collision warning, speed limit info, parallel auto parking, reverse cam, etc. However, other optional features should be standard like cruise control (limiter sucks) and larger screen.

What I like
Frugal yet powerful Diesel engine
Many features as mentioned above which can be confusing for non tech users.
BMW badge at jap or Korean car prices - worth it due to high Coe prices
Sheer driving pleasure especially in sports mode and s gear!

What I do not like
Navigation in luxury version not user-friendly like Garmin
Many other features like active cruise control, traffic jam assist, m steering wheel, hud, larger screen need to be ordered from pml (Long delaor installed outside like elebest at very expensive prices.
Suspension not firm like ford cars. Bumpiness can only be reduced by upgrading 16" to 18" rims. Rft is a must as no spare tire.
Minor faults within 6 months of usage:
Rubber very lousy breaks easily like door seals. Possibly the reason why got door creaking sound sometimes.
Interior paint also come out easily.

If we cast aside the notion of what BMWs should look like, this is one of the sportiest looking new mini-MPVs around.

Inside, you certainly get the feel you're in nothing less than a luxurious BMW, though the high headroom gives the car a narrow proportion, despite being almost as wide as a 3-Series. Build inside is of high quality with the usual soft-touch materials everywhere. Most amazing is the space. Front and rear legroom put the 3-series to shame and could even surpass the 5-series. However, the driving position is high unlike a saloon car so finding the a sporty sitting+steering position is a challenge. The rear seats are at a good height for putting a baby into it's seat.

For the price, the specs of this car can rival it's more expensive RWD brethren. You can read about the features in the other reviews. Perhaps satnav could have been standard to bring the equipment list full-circle.

Handling at legal speeds is probably as good as the larger BMWs, given it's weight. Despite being an FWD, the e-LSD (yes it has one!) minimises understeer and truly sharpens your turn like a hot hatch. I've read turning off DSC will give some real thrill in the corners but that's not why you buy this in the first place. Nevertheless, it delivers true BMWness to an FWD car, if there ever is such a thing (Mini?).

Finally, we come to the power. With 270Nm torque, you will sprint ahead of most Japanese NA cars at the traffic light. Just don't extend the battle beyond 85km/h as the stock engine starts to get wheezy by then.

What I like
- Acceleration from the tiny 1.5L
- Finally, a sporty looking MPV
- Interior quality and space
- Handling and high-speed stability, e-LSD!
- Stock audio system is excellent
- Long list of features and specs
- Great fuel economy for the performance

What I do not like
- Seats have a more 'rugged' bias rather than comfort.
- Seating+steering position could be lower.
- Stock run-flat tyres can be noisy on some roads.
- Lack of warranty-friendly 'tuning' options available unlike Volvo Polestar and Audi MTM.

Even though this is an entry level bimmer, there are lots of features included. I think this is one of the most stylist MPV around with a premium badge.

What I like
The drive is excellent with drive selection from eco pro, comfort and sports. I like the sports mode with stiffer steering and suspension.

The fc is excellent and considering this is a diesel engine, you pay less than $50 for a good 800km. That's $0.06 per litre.

Talking about the features, here goes:

- Collision warning for both vehicle and pedestrian.
- Lane diversion warning
- Bluetooth
- Aux port
- rain sensor
- electric tailgate
- hands free (kick) boot opening and closing
- hands free automatic parallel parking
- LED daytime running lights
- Projector lights on doors
- Interior ambient lighting
- Drive control with eco pro, comfort and sports
- Front, rear and side sensors
- reverse camera
- Keyless entry and engine start stop
- Audio control on steering wheel
- Limiter control

Performance is good with high torque of 270nm. It is always challenging you to step on the gas.

Good boot space with adjustable rear seat to move forward or backwards. Rear seat able to recline to different angles.

Headroom and legroom is fantastic for rear passengers and no problem for 3 adults of reasonable size.

What I do not like
Now for not so good:

- Diesel engine clutter
- Initial start off not so refined
- noisy RFT
- brake dust build up fast
- No cruise control
- No auto hold

What attracts me is the powerful features that is in the ride.

safety features
- lane departure
- collision warning

Styling
- White xenon lights with standard halogen fog
- White led welcome lights on doors
- chageable ambience lights in cabin
- kick football style open tail gate

Design
- Very nice looking front
- slope n curvy front n side door panels
- slide able Rear seats which means u could expand boot space if needed or widen the rear seats if I have tall passengers.
- back rest of rear seats can be tilt too!

FC - Unbelievable! 50$ worth of diesel gives me 900km.

What I don't like abt the car is I feel the paint is a bit too soft. Easily gets chip on paint.

What I like
Great torque 270nm. Pulls off from traffic if needed.

Fuel consumption

Comfort

What I do not like
Soft paint, may need to do up glass protection for tougher coat.

I really like the new bmw 2 series active tourer diesel. If you are in the market for a large family car i think you should take a good long look at this one.

looks wise i think its a pretty good looking car. Big cars tend to generally not look very nice, but the bmw looks pretty slick. Inside, its also high on quality and comfort. Equipment wise is quite standard for bmw, nothing really lacking. Interior space is also really good.

this car actually turns to be quite fun to drive. Ride comfort is good when travelling on highway speeds. The car also handles surprisingly well given its size. The biggest gripe would probably be the engine. Although it is actually quite punchy, it does lack some refinement. But other than that, fuel economy is also really good. I like it.

What I like
- good looking
- drives well
- comfort and quality
- i think its quite value for money

What I do not like
- engine lacks some refinement
