Nimble, powerful 1 litre turbocharged engine. Responsive and not thirsty. The ride is really smooth and enjoyable.

What I like
Easy to handle
No need big space
Seats are comfy
Sporty look
Cheaper road tax
Fuel efficiency is comparable to vios

What I do not like
No leather seats
No reverse camera
The start stop function which cut off engine when stopping is irritating. Must always remember to turn it off before driving.

Review
An inexpensive car with very low road tax and maintenance. Fuel efficient.

Good for younger people.

What I like
Regardless normal road or uphill its small 1.0 L engine is able to perform as good as a 1.5 L Honda with 400kg of humans in it.

When warranty expires VW parts can be used in this car. VW cars are usually cost less than Audi. The parts will be inexpensive. Given the popularity in China I guess there might be cheap compatible that will fit into this car.

Handling is very good. Parking and lane changing in heavy traffic is easy.

Produce a muscle car like sound when accelerator is fully depressed. Sounds like something muscular despite having a small engine.

What I do not like
Back seats are uncomfortable.

the trunk door requires a bit strength to open it.

No leather seat option

No pedal shift

Not very fuel efficient when the load is very heavy

MMI display screen sucks. I have closed it 99 % of the time.

Review
Was shopping for a compact hatch and test driven the VW Golf and Audi A1 SB 2015. Was won over by Audi's built quality and its new 3 pot turbocharged engine which felt much more powerful than it is on paper. The car handled like it was powered by a bigger engine. Its capacity would also mean cheaper road tax, but still more than sufficient for Singapore roads. Drove to Malacca and did not have any problems keeping up with bigger engine cars, and was clocking 130 to 150km/h on the North-South Highway with ease. Fuel consumption is not as per indicated on paper, but still frequenting the gas stations every 18 to 19 days interval.

What I like
Premium and upmarket interiors for its class. Very well laid out and uncomplicated dashboard with quality to every touches. Best looking exterior for a compact hot hatch and city car with unique signature front and tail lamps. A very eager turbocharged power plant that is frugal, helped by the start-stop technology.

What I do not like
Cabin space in the rear could be a tad bigger. Rear seats are a bit upright in angle but still bearable as the seat cushion contours of the A1 hugs the body rather well. Getting in and out of the car can be a bit difficult. No Audi Drive-Select feature.
