Managed to buy the car before the July VES kicked in, as such the upfront cost is much lower than today's market price, unless COE prices drop further. Functions in the car are sufficient and comes with 7 airbags compared to the i30 with only 2. However, based on the exterior, i30 still looks better than the wagon as the wagon looks like a cool head with a turtle back. Unfortunately, this model does not come with the panoramic roof top unlike the European and Australian model.
There will be a lag during pickup, but it's the nature of the DCT which will need some getting use to for previously CVT drivers
What I like
- value for money
- 7 airbags
- big boot space
- fair fuel economy
What I do not like
- upgraded HU by KMC looks cheap (low definition on big screen)
- speakers are very flat sounding
- Steering is abit too sensitive

Have test drive the hatchback on my first visit whereby the wagon was somehow not make available.
The ride was pretty quiet with probably some minimal road noise. It was definitely a better and more stable ride over the hatchback.
Looking at the great package and price point in comparison with its rivals, this is truly value for money purchase.
I have simply signed on the dotted line even before the motorshow. Glad that I have do so and the price was just up with Jan 19 1st COE bid result.
What I like
Great package price - At sub $100K, you will have LED headlamps, DRL, 17inch rims, TPMS, paddle shifters, driver electric seat, electric parking brake with auto hold, engine start/stop, park assist, 8 inch head unit with android auto and apple car play, wireless phone charging etc which is rare for cars at this price point. Be it wagon, hatchback, SUV or sedan.
Spacious boot - 602 litres with all seats up
Nice touch factory wrapped steering wheel with great cockpit functioning buttons.
Factory fitted leather seats feeling great too
Very versatile
Rear seats centre armrest comes with accessibility to boot area
The already spacious boot with underneath compartments and cargo net. It also comes with tonneau cover too to hide your items from pry eyes.
Electric steering wheel making parking a brisk.
What I do not like
Cabin interior with the sea of black may looks a little dull
Rear leg rooms to be more on the compact for passenger with height above 1.75m. It has more than sufficient shoulder room for only 2 full size adults but maybe slightly cramp for 3.
More noise would be coming from the rear as compare with its hatchback variant as due to the extended and huge boot area. However this can be easily resolved with some aftermarket soundproofing.
