Everybody, in their life, has at least one experience where they gave something a miss, whether a book, movie or even chatting with someone, simply because its cover wasn't appealing enough.

The Superb at first glance is a very huge car, you might think it will feel cheap but you are 100% wrong. The Superb is a executive car that might trick people into thinking its a Volkswagen, Mercedes, Volvo etc with its Škoda badge covered.

What I like
Powerful TSI engines, expensive feel, responsive engine, lots of legroom and headroom, simple and chic dashboard, little plastic findings, expensive material used, unique twin door technology, Superbly built.

What I do not like
Dull looks, does not hold value well at all.

The first thought that came to mind when I saw the Superb was "Skoda has really come a long way!". The general public perception of the brand can be summarised by the following three words -"unreliable", "second-rate" and "budget". What Skoda has achieved in the technology department has sadly not been duplicated in the marketing department.

The interior finishing is excellent with minimal hard plastics and plenty of soft rubber surfaces. Well-designed ergonomics of the cabin ensure the essentials are within reach while the electric seat controls allow the driver tremendous flexibility in seating position, maximising his view of the road.

Legroom is phenomenal for both the front and rear passengers, comparable to that provided in the long wheelbase versions of the BMW 7-series and Merc S-class. The comfortable leather seats provide firm support for the back and legs. Headroom is adequate but not fantastic. NVH in the Superb is above average. Wind noise is almost non-existent even at speeds above 130km/h and the cabin is well-insulated against road noise.

The steering is sharp, with slight understeer and conveys a strong sense of confidence even when taking corners at non-conservative speeds. The ride is firm without sacrificing comfort and the suspension feels more than capable to take on the undulations and aberrations of Singapore roads. Brakes are highly effective with incredible assist and I had full control at all times and speeds.

What blows me away is the immense power that is offered. The figures on paper look good but this car requires an actual drive to appreciate the out-of-this-world torque and acceleration. On paper the 0 to 100 timing is 6.5s but it feels very much faster than that in reality. The huge amount of torque adds to the WOW factor when you pull away easily from the crowd, not to mention the oh-so-sweet engine note.

The 6-speed DGS gearbox is incredible, providing seamless gear changes even in times of hard & powerful acceleration. While it is not perfect, especially in cases when the acceleration path is cut short, it complements the power in the 3.6l FSI engine. The Superb 3.6 is a very capable sedan that holds its own very well against the likes of the Passat and A8 in any street setting.

Kudos to Skoda for a brilliant car!

What I like
Most aspects of the car including the interesting solar-cell sunroof that provides ventilation within the cabin during hot days, the useful headlamp washers, the innovative twin-door boot and not forgetting to mention the automatic parallel parking feature.

What I do not like
Very little to dislike but it would have been a perfect car if it has keyless entry and push start as well as a foot-activated (or even better an electrionic) parking brake.

Have been driving the new Superb for almost 2 months now. On one hard, very quiet ride and amazingly smooth transmission when cruising. On the other, engine sounds very good when rev hard and acceleration is very smooth and impressive.

Interior, features, space, materials used are top notch considering the reasonable price. Dual boot is a great feature.

Fuel economy is about 11-12km/liter combined city (60%)/ highway (40%) depending on how frequent the engine is "revved".

Brand generates curious queries and many friends and colleagues are surprized by the overall quality of the car.

Definitely a good choice for a luxury car if you don't mind being seen in a Skoda!

What I like
Everything excepts the slightly conservative styling.

What I do not like
Styling a bit conservative.

I have taken delivery of my Superb Elegance for slightly over a month now and have nothing but praises for this beautiful car !

The level of comfort, cabin space, handling and engine peformance is simply well, superb. I have owned 11 different cars, all from different marques (from Proton/Hyundai to Toyota/Honda to Audi/Merc) and no car comes close to the Czech-made wonder.

I have often bragged over my wife 's Toyata Wish's fuel economy of more than 12km/L and guess what the 1.8TSI engine gives me ? Not only the raw power when I need it but also great economy when I choose to cruise. I hv clocked 6.2L/100km for a single trip from Suntec to Pasir Ris (via KPE); that's a whopping 16.1 km/L !

The extra features that was included were also so overwhelming that make the car one of the best equipped one in the market.

Check the car out; sit in it, test drive it and you will know what I mean.

What I like
- Powerful 1.8TSI engine & yet fuel economy.
- Ride comfort & smooth handling.
- 7-Speed DSG gearbox.
- Solid build quality.
- Unique features including Cruise Control, Park Assist, HID headlamps with AFS.

What I do not like
- Lack of Sunroof Option.

Stepping into the interior, from the instrument panel, the touch-screen radio, the DSG gear knob, the electric seats with memory, I find this car is basically a Passat. Not only it looks like the Passat from the inside, it handles the same as well. The build quality is also surprisingly of good standard, similar to VW. The leg room for back seats is impressive, comparable to large size saloons like the BMW 7 series and Audi A8. For $20K less than the VW, I will seriously consider this well-made in Czech quality car without looking too much at the badge.

What I like
The DSG 7-speed gear box is a total delight, smooth as silk. You will hardly notice any gear shift (just like the CVT). The boot and its cleverly designed 2-mode opening is a convenient option. Ride is comfortable and quiet, just like one would expect in a continental limousine. For me, I am very contented with the level of equipment standard in the entry 1.8TSi Ambition which has high quality sound system and Alcantara leather seats, all factory installed.

What I do not like
The conventional parking brake lever as compared to the electronic parking brakes standard in The Passat. The exterior design is acceptably nice but a little boring.

Enjoyed the ride very much, it was a delight to cruise around with such a well insulated cabin, horses ever ready to sprint as soon as you wriggle your toes. Great in auto mode, manual is a little hasty due to 7 speed, each being quite short. My passenger would have complimented the cabin with his lunch if I had not switched back to auto mode sooner. 'S' mode is very responsive picking up, but downshifts when foot off. Overall is an impressive improvement over the years. Just hope they wouldn't be flagged down by roadside in future.

What I like
interior room is exceptionally generous compared to most cars sharing similar wheelbase. Throttle is very responsive, gear changed almost unnoticed, brakes are exceptionally sharp. Steering is a little on the light side with not as much feedback as I anticipated. The patented boot design is amazing, size is good enough for an elephant, dual opening is practical but I am concern about leakage in time.

What I do not like
Price a little on the high side, would certainly sell well the eighties price range with full specs. No other choices of leather. Rotors a little small for its power & size. For now, they grip like a mastiff, in time to come, a chihuahua maybe.
