Tested several cars but ruled them out because;
- X1 - great car but 3 cylinders, why??
- Forester - CVT - where's the soul??
- XC40 - very nice. But I think not worth the money. OMV seems low.
- Tiguan - love the power, but plasticy interior was a let down.
- CX-5 - nice premium feel but 2.0L engine lacked pace.
- Karoq, Ateca - very similar to Tiguan as they are basically the same engine. But I'm bit worried about the brand's lack of presence here.

The Tucson was the last on my list and it impressed. The car is well equipped with lots of useful features. Seating was very comfortable and space was good. However, I would have loved paddle shifters on the steering and the "Kick under the bumper to open and close the tailgate" Feature to be included. Boot space is generous but though its no big deal I was hoping to see some hooks for shopping bags and more compartments for nick-nacks.

Driving wise, the 1.6L turbo DCT pulled very willingly just with a slight nudge on the accelerator. There seems to be no end to the car's willingness to keep going. Really enjoyed the exhilarating acceleration. And for once, my wife agreed!! On the downside, I did find the brakes a little soft, and the cornering a little wobbly. Granted, perhaps the car was tuned more for comfort.

On the whole, a well balanced package. Was very happy and booked myself the range topping model.. I.E. With Sunroof, motorised and ventilated front seats.

What I like
The 1.6L Turbo and 7-speed DCT everything else can be forgiven!! hahaha.
Spacious interior and good quality materials.
Well laid out dash board and controls (though some may find it boring).
Lots of essential features comes standard.
Nice front grille gives it a more sporty look.

What I do not like
No paddle shifters
No kick to release and close tailgate
Suspension a little soft.
Brakes a little soft.

I have avoided test driving this car as its interior looks a little boring. When I finally tested the 1.6T I was shocked. If I close my eyes (not literally as I am driving), it feels so Audi-like. Endless torrents of torque kept pushing the car in a very refined manner. Ride was very comfortable and supple. I picked the 2l in the end, as I prefer to have the panoramic sunroof, and don't mind a slower ride. The 2l is just as quiet but not as fast and exciting as the 1.6T. Test drive it and you will know.

What I like
Quiet and supple ride.
Refined experience
A mature and handsome exterior.
Lots of niceties - puddle lights, illuminated external door handles.
Android Auto / Apple car play
Hyundai reliability

What I do not like
Interior looks a little dated.
Fixed pairing of external and internal colour combination.

Hyundai Tucson has marked its re-entry in the market, albeit in an all-new avatar, and with a lot more bells and whistles. The South-Korean automaker, after years of deliberation, has brought back the SUV to bridge the gap between Creta and Santa Fe. The all-new Hyundai Tucson SUV is available in both the petrol and diesel fuel trims with a total of five variants: MT, AT GL, MT, AT GL and AT GLS. The exterior styling cues have been taken from the Hyundai’S Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 Design Philosophy, just like Elantra and Creta.

What I like
+Futuristic and modern looks
+Feature loaded
+Class-leading fit and finish

What I do not like
-Does not offer 4X4
-Expensive
-Top specs variant don't offer manual transmission

I had the chance to "Own" The 1.6T over a weekend.

Exterior - instead of resembling an SUV, this somewhat a raised hatch, needs no intro.

Features - comes with keyless entry, e-tailgate, corner light, chrome door handle w welcome light. Also has see-me-home light if set to auto headlight. Wing mirror unfolds when u near front door even before pressing button on door handle to unlock. Key fob also has tailgate open / close button; Cover is nice color of brown / gray depend on lighting - very special color.

Interior - gettin in is easier since it being raise hatchback instead of full SUV. Being all-black & local fitted leather, nothing to shout about. But leather is taut, interior space as good as previous version except less headroom. Driver gets electric seats adjustment w e-lumbar adjustment. Steering is reach & rake adjustable. Gear knob nice to hold & button on it is matt chrome. Centre console box cum armrest can be a lil longer though no issue w resting of elbows for me n partner. Aircon is cold even during hot weather (new car noted). All buttons & steering control (incl cruise control but not adaptive) well put with no freeplay. Blind spot detection avail for my trim. Seats are relatively firm but comfy (as a gauge i can only say not as firm as contis like BMW X1 / Land Rover Disco); Front headrest can be moved up n forward. Aircon is manual adjust using knobs. Rear seats has centre armrest w cupholders.

Ride - chassis feel taut when going over humps at an angle. Very stable ride (dry weather tested only); Doesn't panic when accelerate around bends. Have engine sound, but also power. Doesn't feel like 1.6T, more like 1.8T - 2T. Accel til 3-figure speeds still stable; I thot was 2-figure speeds. When travel at 80-90 I thot was 60. On Kumho tyres (not conti / jap tyres) with 17" Alloys. Going over uneven surfaces / humps / strips felt comfy. NVH insulation is definitely better than some Jap rivals where engine makes lotsa noise but car doesn't move as urgently. I enjoyed listening to music on a car for first time, given all my previous were BnB cars.

ICE came with very good sound quality, with 10-band EQ, GPS and CD / video / audio player.

What I like
Better than expected performance, handling, NVH and ICE

What I do not like
Price, color options

I test driven the 1.6 turbo version and you can feel
The surge when the turbo kicked in making this 1.5 ton beast fly on the road like a cheetah. The engine is very quiet when it the keyless ignition is activated making one wonder if this is a hybrid car. This model is much sleeker and streamlined than the one from yesteryear and the 1.6T is definitely a good buy which you will not regret although it does like have sunroof like the 2000cc version

What I like
Turbo turbo turbo

Quiet cabin and drive

What I do not like
No 4wd drive option

Heated rear seats instead of ventilated seats

Exterior is sleek and well proportioned. Easily 1 of the nicest looking SUV around.

Driving experience is good and smooth. Interior is very roomy and well insulated.

What I like
Very nice exterior
Quiet cabin
Smooth ride
Spacious interior
Comfortable seat

What I do not like
It will be better if the price can be slightly lowered and comes with even more features such as the cooling seats

The engine is powerful enough for the SUV body, unlike 1.2 turbo Qashqai where I felt the car is under power. The car has most of the standard options available in modern new cars. The no S/R version is a suitable option for those who do not like sunroof like me and those who are not sure if the Korean's 1.6T DCT is realiable.

What I like
Fierce looking SUV
Spacious
Have most of the features and I like that there is no sun roof in case it leaks after 5 years, why need a sun roof where we don't even have 4 seasons.
Alternative seat colours than boring black.

What I do not like
High fuel consumption.

2016 Hyundai Tuscon was'nt my first choice (was looking at Harrier) but after looking and test drive it, I changed my attention to this sleek and sporty looking SUV which IMO, is one of the most handsome looking SUV in the market. Although pickup is a tat slow, the rest of the drive is simply smooth, quiet and luxurious. Both exterior and interior features are generous for the price and brand and I must say Koreans have elevated themselves quite alot since their inception.

What I like
- very quiet and smooth driving.
- many safety features.
- the handsome, sleek and sporty looks.

What I do not like
- the slow pickup.
- missing features such as cooling glove compartment, cooling seats, electronic
passenger seats, automatic reverse parking etc etc.

Test drove the high end version that comes with sunroof sometime back...

Exterior design with nice grills in the front that looks much more stylish and has character than the earlier version which looks so crampy and squeezy like a bun.

Interior, was shown with many gadgets like electric parking brake, on screen info, etc...Comes with smart tailgate too that is impressive.

Drive wise, on 18 inches wheels makes this ride stable. Gear changes is better than the cousin counterpart. Overtaking seems not so punchy. Same for cornering which lacks the umph in the power.

Overall, if you are a many gadgets lover, this new stylish Tucson is for you for the things and price you are getting and if you are looking for best of both world, perhaps can consider its Japanese competitors out there, like the Harrier or even X-Trail.

What I like
Many gadgets given
Sunroof available in higher end version
New and more stylish look than the earlier one

What I do not like
Engine not as punchy as Salesperson claims.
Outdated player but agent claims will replace with better one for sunroof version.

Tested the car at komoco. Cabin is pretty quiet as I couldn't heard and feel the noise and vibration of the engine after starting it up.
The steering is light and lack of feedback which I personally like it and friendly to lady drivers too.
Suspension is a bit stiff but the handling is excellent when cornering. You don't really feel you are moving away from the seat.
The interior design looks luxury especially the sunroof version, plenty of headroom and leg room. It has rear air-con vented.
The safety feature is excellent, it passed 5 star ENCAP rating and more steels than the previous version.
18" Wheel looks cool and it has full size spare tyre too.

What I like
Blind spot detection
Smart tailgate
Spacious
Parking assist
premium look
Great sound proof
Panoramic sunroof
Electronic driver seat adjustment
Rear vented

What I do not like
Fuel consumption could be better
no 1.6 Turbocharge version
no lane departure detection
no factory fitted GPS navigation and media system

This car changed my perception of korean cars totally.

from the inside, it look and feel more like a conti car than a korean.

Drive wise, it's a good mix of power and comfort with enough space for rear passengers to stretch.

What I like
the external styling improved tremendously.

space is huge inside. great for large family.

What I do not like
because of the size, a bit hard to park and navigate those older carparks.

Had the chance to test the new hyundai tucson, and it is a handsome looking car that gets the job done. I am a fan of how the new car looks, especially that massive front grille. Inside, its all very well laid out and refined. Trim feels a little on the cheap side. But there's tons of room inside, both in the front and the back.

the drive is pleasant. Engine goes surprisingly well, didnt have as much lag as i expected. Handles well too, rolls a bit but its very manageable. The auto gearbox works surprisingly well.

all in all, its a very practically made car to meet very practical needs. Its spacious, not terrible to drive, and priced well enough.

What I like
- spacious interior
- good looking car
- the drive is better than expected
- well-specced car, a lot of things come standard

What I do not like
- not the most exciting car, interior or drive

Took a test drive of this car and very pleasantly surprised. I have driven other 2L NA cars like Toyota Wish but the Tucson was completely not what I expected. Engine pulled well and smoothly - i couldn't believe it was a 2L car. The ride felt planted yet comfortable and the steering and handling felt great too. I felt right at home immediately despite my own cars being coupes for the past 5 years!

Highly recommended!!

(Ratings based on price range)

What I like
Almost everything.

What I do not like
Small display on headunit. Reverse camera display on rear view mirror was a bit hard to see.
