I bought my vehicle, a VW Sportsvan in Aug 2017. The car has been serviced by VW SG since then. From July to Sept this year, I had to send my car in for repairs and servicing 3 times; Car failure due to throttle body failure, regular servicing and clutch replacement. Just last week, I found the air conditioning system to be faulty and have to make arrangements to send my vehicle in again tomorrow.

The quality and level of servicing provided by Volkswagen SG just doesn't cut it. On hindsight, I will be happy driving a Jap/Korean vehicle.

What I like
Maybe the nice design of the logo?

What I do not like
Almost everything else

Good handling, enough comfort despite the large rim and sport suspension. Very spacious front and rear cabin. All for less than 4.4m in length. So that my wife can drive without me worrying too much.

It's a car that makes a lot of sense for a family man who wants the handling of a hatch/sedan while enjoying the extra space and easy for the young and elderly to enter and come out.

And it doesn't roll around like any oversold SUV!

Too bad Volkswagen will stop the SV line after the current iteration. Yeah SUV is THE global trend. But they really don't come close in terms of driveability.

What I like
Good handling
Responsive DSG gearbox
Spacious cabin
Clean and modern interior
Great 40-70km acceleration

What I do not like
Erratic, sometimes harsh auto start stop
Tyre noise can be better insulated
11 km/l fuel consumption below expectation
0-40km not as powerful as 40-70km
A bit worried about longevity of the DSG gearbox

Even though the Sportsvan only seats 5, the rear cabin space is huge. It is ideal for a small family like the one I have with 2 young kids who need childseats. I have 2 childseats in the car while there is still space for an adult to sit in between them in the rear!

What I like
Full of tech features in my Sportsvan Highline
Lots of space and storage compartments for the family
Powerful engine with loads of torque (acceleration) for city driving

What I do not like
Fuel economy could be better but understandable due to 18" rims & loads to features weighing the car down

Been looking at tons of cars from all sorts of sedan, 5+2 suv, mpv and decided that practicality wins over design.

Must admit that it is not the best looking car and definitely look like an up sized Golf, but take a chance and look in its interior,I am a gadget guy, so dashboard is a big factor for me, and the paranomic roof, which I am sure my 2 little ones will adore. But what sold us was the space on the 2 roll, as We need to put 2 baby seats and hence my Wife or helper will need to climb in and out so this was the main selling point to us.

Beside, Wife is a fan of VW and like all men said, happy Wife, happy life.

What I like
Dashboard consoles looks current and modern
Auto hold, good function to have for city driving since we have more traffic light than people
Paranomic root, kids will love it
Multi function wheel, welcome to 2016

What I do not like
7 dsg, hope it is really rectified
No electric tailgate

After having had a go in the VW Sportsvan, i think the best (and probably most accurate) way to describe it is as an upsized Golf. Which of course in many ways it literally is. It looks very much like the Golf, except in mpv dimensions. Inside, its nice, classy and very sensible. Comfortable place to be in, too.

Driving the sportsvan, it does again bring to mind the golf. It drives quite well, very stable and comfortable, refined all around and is actually fairly agile given its mpv size.

the biggest knock with the sportsvan is also precisely the fact that it's an upsized golf rather than an out-and-out mpv. I think when you compare it to other similarly priced mpvs it looses out on practical aspects like boot space. So while it is definitely a good car that is fun to drive, i'm not convinced that it's necessarily a very good mpv in the traditional sense.

What I like
- looks nice
- refined interior, well built
- good, solid drive.

What I do not like
- fairly small boot space, which takes away from the practicality of an mpv
