Mercedes has announced a power hike for its SL-Class range in the U.K. with the introduction of a new SL400 Sport - to replace the SL350. Fitted with a V6 bi-turbo drivetrain, the SL 400 features an increase of 27bhp and 110Nm of torque over the outgoing engine. Furthermore the SL400 is quicker - despite a reduction in displacement by half a litre to 2,996cc.
A total of 333bhp and 480Nm of torque are produced by the all new six-cylinder engine equipped with two turbochargers lowering the century sprint timing from 5.9 to 5.2 seconds before continuing to a top speed of 249km/h.
This combination ensures that the automotive icon meets EU6 emissions standards, whilst also ensuring that customers have the very best in style, power and performance.
The SL 400 Sport will adorn five-spoke 19-inch AMG alloy wheels as well as AMG front and rear aprons and side skirts, a boot lid spoiler in body colour and sports suspension.
In the cabin, a host of striking features include an instrument cluster with a chequered flag design, a flat bottomed sports steering wheel with silver gear shift paddles and perforated leather in the grip areas, plus brushed light aluminium trim and AMG floor mats. Alongside unique standard equipment features, the SL400 and SL500 (which also now meets EU6 standards) will also feature DAB and Tyre Pressure Monitoring as standard.
In addition, the SL 63 AMG also gain from a power upgrade with a total output of 585bhp - an increase of 48bhp. An increase of 100Nm will result in a total of 900Nm of torque being available, and this is all without any compromise to fuel efficiency and emissions.
