Mercedes presents new C-Class Estate at German factory

From September, the C-Class nameplate gets an new member with the new C-Class Estate model. According to the automaker, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate, in comparison to its predecessor, shines with a sporty design, innovative technologies and an increased cargo volume.
The dimensions of the new Estate have grown considerably. Measuring 4,702mm in length and 1,810mm in width - with a wheelbase of 2,840mm - the added proportions benefits rear occupants with more cabin room for added comfort.
In addition load capacity has also been improved to 490 litres and maxes out at 1,510 litres with the 40:20:40 split folding rear seats.
Access to the cargo area can be enhanced with the optional EASY PACK power liftgate and the HANDS-FREE ACCESS system. The latter allows opening and closing of the liftgate with just the motion of the foot in the area of the rear bumper.
The interior was adopted from the Saloon and exudes a modern, luxurious and at the same time sporty ambience. In addition to the base model, there are also three distinct design and equipment lines each of the exterior and interior.
The diesel models are powered by the improved four-cylinder or the new small four-cylinder engine, which cover an output range from 115bhp to 204bhp. In addition, the C300 BlueTEC HYBRID with a four-cylinder diesel engine and compact electric motor generates a power output of 231bhp (204bhp + 27bhp) and returns 26.3km/L.
Three BlueDIRECT four-cylinder and one BlueDIRECT six‑cylinder petrol engine with power outputs ranging from 156bhp to 333bhp will initially be available for the new C-Class. In due course, a four-cylinder C350 Hybrid with plug-in technology and a power output of 274bhp (207bhp + 67bhp) will follow.
The Estate adopts almost all new assistance systems from the S-Class and E-Class, which have been enhanced with significant functions for improved comfort and safety.
