The Sunday Times reported that three separate fatal accidents occurred within 24 hours over the weekend.
At about 7:00am yesterday, the police were alerted to an accident along Woodlands Avenue 10, involving a lorry and a 35-year old male Indian cyclist, believed to be a shipyard worker who was on his way to work. The latter lay metres from the lorry and was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. His bag and shoes were found more than three metres away from his body.
The male Chinese driver, who is understood to be in his 30s, was later arrested.
Barely a day earlier, two motorcyclists died in accidents an hour apart. The first was a 19-year old youth who was found at about 5:45am along Clementi Road. He was also pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. He had reportedly lost control of his motorbike and crashed into three trees before finally coming to a stop.
The other fatality was a man in his 30s who was found unconscious at about 6:30am along Braddell Road. He was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police investigations in all three accidents are ongoing.
