Skoda claims its recently unveiled Skoda Fabia is the ideal car for modern yet practical urban mobility and also possesses the perfect combination of functionality and emotionally-rich design. The hatchback has enough space for five occupants and their luggage, yet thanks to its compact footprint, it is extremely agile and nimble.
The interior passenger space is slightly longer and larger than its predecessor and at the same time provides the driver and passengers with increased headroom.
Although the new Fabia is 8mm shorter, its interior length has increased by around 8mm to 1,674 mm. Elbow room at the front and rear are also better at 1,401mm at the front and 1,386mm at the rear.
At 330 litres, the Fabia also boasts the largest boot within the small car segment, which is 15 litres more than the previous model and is considerably bigger than models from comparable competitors. With the rear seats folded down, loading capacity increases to up to 1,150 litres.
A spacious rear access, a tall opening tailgate and a low sill height makes loading an easier affair. The loading area is 960mm wide - 20mm wider than the previous generation.
Also, the new Fabia is the first Skoda to feature MirrorLink technology, which allows smartphone apps to be displayed on the screen of the infotainment system which, amongst other things, takes the use of navigation software or personal music files. Connectivity is simple - just simply connect the smartphone to the Bolero system via a USB cable, select and activate MirrorLink mode on the radio and MirrorLink-certified apps will be mirrored on the infotainment system's display.
