"Based on the official report submitted by the race stewards, the question of a faulty weighing machine did not arise at all," says SIC General Manager Datuk Azmi Murad in a statement today.

"The Stewards of the Meeting, in its report, said that the weighing equipment used for the event had valid calibration certificate from Avery Malaysia Sdn Bhd and random checks was made with a fixed weight by the Stewards to confirm the accuracy.

"As such, the weighing machine has been accepted by the stewards and is in working condition," Azmi said in commenting a news report which highlighted complaints by a competitor in the Supersixteen Championship Indran Kanavaji, who was disqualified on grounds that his car was found to be under the regulated weight.

Azmi said: "The rules and regulations of the competition was clear. All competing cars would need to be above the minimum the regulated weight. His car was found to be underweight and as such was disqualified from the race. The decision by the race stewards was clear and we fully support their decision.

"The question of the weighing equipment being faulty does not arise because it was operating well. I have the detailed report by the Stewards of the Meeting on the matter and they were satisfied with the weighing machine used at the race last weekend.

On the issue of re-scheduling the qualifying session, Azmi said that the move to shift the session from the original schedule at 3.10pm to 5.20 pm was agreed by all the Supersixteen competitors; adding that as such, the issue of dissatisfaction by any of the riders did not arise.

"Having said that, I would like to urge competitors taking part in our events to discuss any issues or voice their dissatisfaction directly with us before going to make public comments. I believe it is in the overall interest of Malaysian motorsports that the competitors, organizers, race officials and the governing bodies of motorsports to work closely and project all motorsports events as positive as possible.

On the Supersports results, Azmi said that SIC had published the Supersports Championship results at its official website and informed all competitors that they had one week to protest.

"We did not receive any protests; so we would now proceed with the prize presentation ceremony, which would be held at the next MSS biking competitions on May 25," Azmi said, adding that the concerned competitors could still appeal to AAM if they remained dissatisfied.
