Residents in Marsiling and Woodlands, Pasir Ris, Tampines East and Simei, Yew Tee and Yishun will have more options for their daily commute to and from the CBD during morning and evening peak periods, when five new City Direct Services (CDS) start progressively from the second quarter of 2015, reported The Straits Times.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has called a tender that invited private bus operators to submit their cost proposals to operate these five new City Direct bus services.
City Direct services ply between residential estates and the Central Business District (CBD) during morning and evening peak periods. With limited stops and the use of expressways, these services almost match the speed and predictability of the MRT system.
The two new City Direct services serving Marsiling, Woodlands and Yishun will operate three one-way trips on weekday mornings from the respective housing estates towards the CBD. There will be two return trips from the business district in the evenings.
The other three new services will operate two one-way trips on weekday mornings towards the CBD and two return trips from the district in the evenings.
