COE premiums at a three-month low
22 Jul 2015|6,619 views
July's second bidding exercise saw COE premiums decline again across all categories used to register cars. Category B, a category used to register cars above 1,600cc or 130bhp, recorded a significant drop of $7,392 compared to the previous tender two weeks ago to close at $58,109.
Other categories saw a similar trend too with Category A falling by 4.8 percent to close at $55,889. This is a difference of $2,811 compared to the previous bidding exercise. Category E, which is usually used to register for cars, saw premiums decreasing by a massive 12.9 percent or $8,900 to end at $60,101.
The COE results for this round were largely predictable due to an increase in the supply of the COE with many cars reaching the statutory lifespan of 10 years.
Although the number of bids received this time round was about the same as the previous tender, the premiums still decreased as dealers could have been less aggressive in their bidding. With a further increase in the COE quota in the upcoming three-month period from August, one can expect a further drop in the COE prices.
