Wearnes Automotive launches all new Volvo XC90 in Singapore

The all new XC90 is the first Volvo to carry the company's new more prominent iron mark, which has the iconic arrow elegantly aligned with the diagonal slash across the grille. Together with the T-shaped "Thor's Hammer" daytime running lights, the iron mark introduces an entirely new, distinctive and confident face for Volvo's forthcoming generation of cars.
The second generation SUV's interior is the most luxurious to have ever been designed for a Volvo. The most striking feature is its tablet-like touchscreen control console, which forms the heart of an all new in-car control system equipped with the new Sensus user interface. This system is virtually button free, a simplicity that makes way for more generous and cleaner surfaces, while allowing Volvo to create a modern and luxurious interior architecture.
Building on the brand's reputation for seat comfort, the XC90 offers innovatively designed seats that also free up space for second and third row passengers. The seat core features an ergonomic shape that resembles the human spine while a multitude of adjustment possibilities makes it possible for users to create their ideal position.
Offering the most comprehensive and technologically sophisticated standard safety package in the industry, the XC90 includes two world first safety technologies. Run-off Road Protection tightens the front safety belts to keep occupants in position while energy-absorbing functionality between the seat and seat frame cushions the vertical forces during hard landings. The other world first is Auto-brake at Intersections, which detects a potential crash and brakes automatically in order to avoid a collision or mitigate the consequences of a crash.
The new XC90 is the first Volvo that rides on the Swedish carmaker's new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and is equipped with a completely new chassis made of lightweight materials. As a result, the car is 157kg lighter than its predecessor, which allows the car to be more agile in its handling and response.
Powering the new XC90 is a range of 2.0-litre four-cylinder Drive-E powertrains, all of which provide an outstanding combination of performance and fuel efficiency. Petrol engine variants available locally start with a T6 engine that produces 320bhp and 400Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to finish the century sprint in a respectable 6.5 seconds. If things go according to plan, another T5 variant with 254bhp and 350Nm of torque will be introduced at the end of the year.
There is also the stunning T8 Twin Engine version, with 407bhp and 640Nm of torque, although there isn't any news of this plug-in hybrid variant coming to Singapore as of press time.
The range also includes the D5 twin-turbo diesel engine that is capable of 225bhp and 470Nm of torque, with best in class fuel consumption of 5.7L/100km. The other oil burning motor is the D4 turbodiesel with 190bhp and 400Nm of torque and returns a fuel consumption of 5.3L/100km.
Prices inclusive of COE (as of press time)
Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum - $330,000
Volvo XC90 T6 Inscription - $360,000
