Honda has unveiled details of the all new 2016 Honda Civic Sedan, the 10th generation of Honda's stalwart compact sedan.
In a bid to realise a dynamic rejuvenation of the Civic, virtually everything about the 2016 Civic is new - an all new vehicle architecture, new interior and exterior styling, a bigger and more spacious cabin, a host of new premium features and technologies, as well as two advanced new engines.
The new Civic will feature two powerplants: a 2.0-litre DOHC port-injected i-VTEC engine for base models, as well as a turbocharged 1.5-litre DOHC direct-injected engine for the higher end models, producing 158bhp and 174bhp respectively. The chassis has also been redesigned, with new multi-link independent rear suspension, hydraulic compliance bushings, larger stabiliser bars, rigid aluminium rear damper brackets, brake torque vectoring and dual-pinion electric power steering, all Civic's firsts.
The new powertrain and chassis sits atop a newly redesigned body, with its ACE body structure improving collision performance, whilst ultra-high strength materials offer greater rigidity. The body is also lighter, despite its larger size and increased stiffness.
The facade of the new Civic has also undergone a transformation, its sleek bodylines and sharp face all sitting closer and wider to the ground, creating an unmistakable yet modern Civic design aesthetic. The interior offers a sense of spaciousness and premium comfort, whilst premium comfort and convenience features including Remote Engine start, Smart Entry with Push Button Start, electronic parking brake, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated rear seats and rain-sensing wipers are available.
The 2016 Civic Sedan is also available with the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assistive technologies.
