Peugeot has announced the new Peugeot 3008 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), the most advanced vehicle offered by the brand to date.
With a longer wheelbase and an overall length 80mm longer than the current model, interior space has greatly improved, with more legroom, elbow room and headroom for the rear occupants. Luggage space has also improved in the new 3008, with a luggage capacity of 520 litres (almost 90 litres bigger than the previous generation).
Despite the improvements in passenger and luggage capacities, the new model is, on average, 100kg lighter than the previous generation versions. This has been achieved though intelligent design and use of materials to provide improved efficiency, better fuel economy, increased performance, a more dynamic driving experience and class-leading safety.
Very High Strength Steel and Ultra High Strength Steel have been used in the vehicle's construction, with a thermoplastic boot floor, tailgate, aluminium wings, front suspension arms and rear seat frames. More refined engines also allow for a reduction in sound-deadening materials.
To ensure owners and drivers can enjoy and exploit the full potential of their new 3008, the new model comes with the latest generation Peugeot i-Cockpit, which includes advanced sensory engagement for both driver and passengers. The i-Cockpit with Amplify engages all the senses of sight, hearing, touch and smell. In addition, sight, touch and hearing benefit from the supplementary characteristics of the Driver Sport Pack.
For the first time in history, technology from French acoustics specialist FOCAL will be factory fitted to a production model. Recognised worldwide for its patented innovations and unique sonic sound, the 10-speaker system with exclusive FOCAL technology will bring a pure and defined sound to occupants.
Safety features on the new 3008 include Active Safety Brake and Distance Alert, Active Involuntary Crossing Line, Driver Alert Warning function, Automatic High Beam Assistance, Speed Sign Detection and Recommendation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop function, Active Blind Spot Monitoring System and Park Assist, and Visiopark 1 and 2, with Visiopark 1 including a 180-degree view camera on the tailgate and Visiopark 2 adding the same camera to the front bumper for a complete 360-degree exterior vehicle view on the interior touchscreen.
The new Peugeot 3008 will make its Paris Motor Show public debut in September.
