Mercedes-Benz launches the C-Class Cabriolet

This is a new thing. Not just for Mercedes-Benz, but also to drop-top lovers because for the first time ever, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class now comes as a cabriolet variant.
This new entry-level four-seater convertible, which will go head on with cars like the Audi A5 Cabriolet and the BMW 4 Series Convertible, sits below the E-Class cabriolet in Mercedes' lineup.
At 4,686mm long, 1,810mm wide and 1,405mm tall, the dimensions of the C-Class Cabriolet is identical to the recently launched C-Class Coupe. From the grille and bold shoulder line to the LED head lights and S-Class Cabriolet-like taillights, almost everything you see on the sexy coupe is retained on the cabriolet. The main and obvious change, of course, is the foldable roof.
Speaking of roof, instead of going for the hard-top like the one fitted onto the BMW 4 Series Convertible, Merc has opted for a power-operated fabric soft-top, which operates in 20 seconds at speeds of up to 50km/h. As such, it gives the handsome car more of a lifestyle rather than sporty disposition on first glance.
That doesn't mean the new car is all show without go.
As you may have already come to expect, engine range is broadly similar to the coupe and Singapore will be getting a wide range of powerful engines. Mated to a nine-speed gearbox, the 1.6-litre C180 (154bhp), the 2.0-litre C200 (181bhp) as well as the 2.0-litre C300 (241bhp) will make its way here. The 328bhp-rated C400, however, will not be coming. No matter, because the juicy Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Cabriolet as well as the Mercedes-AMG C 63 and C 63 S Cabriolet will also be arriving to Singapore.
Powered by a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo with 362bhp and 520Nm of torque and paired with a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Cabriolet will propel from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Cabriolet, on the other hand, is equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and it sports a 4.0-litre V8 Biturbo that puts out a strong figure of 503bhp and a whopping 700Nm of twisting force, allowing the car to finish the century sprint in 4.1 seconds.
Inside, it doesn't come as a surprise that the cabriolet appears similar to the coupe's. Based on what we've seen, fit and finish is top notch. More interestingly, the drop-top C-Class will also offer an Aircap wind deflector, which rises from the upper edge of the windshield frame to discourage turbulent from entering the cabin when the top is down.
Space-wise, with a boot capacity of 360 litres with the roof in place and 285 litres with the roof stowed, the C-Class Cabriolet doesn't lose out to its peers. There's still room for hand carry and grocery bags, which makes this more than just a form over function soft-top.
Singaporeans can expect to take orders of the cars when they arrive at the fourth quarter of this year.
