Kia has refreshed the Forte for the 2017 model year, sprucing up the compact sedan with improved exterior styling, a more powerful standard engine and a new middle trim level between its entry-level LX and top-tier EX variants.
The 2017 Forte has a new front bumper and extended version of Kia's signature 'Tiger nose' grille as well as new taillights, which are available as LEDs. Perhaps the most striking differences are the long, narrow headlamps, which sweep up along the front quarters of the car - extending over the front wheel wells - and come available as Xenon HID lights.
Under the hood, Kia replaces its 1.8-litre in line four-cylinder engine with a standard 2.0-litre Atkinson in line four-cylinder, which boosts horsepower ever so slightly from 145bhp at 6,500rpm to 147bhp at 6,200rpm. Likewise, torque jumps from 176Nm to 180Nm. The new Forte will also be available with a 2.0-litre GDI in line four-cylinder engine, which makes 164bhp and 205Nm of torque.
A six-speed manual transmission comes standard, but an automatic also will be an option.
