BMW Asia and Performance Motors have announced the availability of the new BMW X5 xDrive25d. An all-round Sports Activity Vehicle equipped to meet the most exacting and varied demands, the new model is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine.
The new BMW X5 xDrive25d combines undeniable presence with driving efficiency, resulting in a modern and eye-catching update. Drag-reducing Air Curtains guide the inflow of air around the wheel arches, before escaping via Air Breathers in the side panels. At the rear, horizontal lines on the two-section tailgate and around the rear apron emphasise the width and robust stance of the new model. Aero Blades at the rear also help channel air and optimise the car's aerodynamic properties.
Inside, the new X5 xDrive25d features high-quality materials, a luxurious ambience and cutting-edge technological functionality. The standard equipment list now also includes a Bluetooth hands-free system, an automatically dimming rear-view mirror and cruise control with braking function. The standard fitted iDrive operating system - in conjunction with the standard Navigation system Professional - comes with an iDrive Touch Controller, whose touch-sensitive surface allows the use of characters to programme a destination into the navigation system. A TV module and a newly developed rear-seat entertainment system with DVD drive and two tablet-style monitors are also available as an option.
Under the bonnet lies a new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 231bhp and 500Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed Sport automatic transmission. An ECO PRO mode is systemically tailored to support fuel-efficient driving. A coasting function periodically decouples the engine from the rest of the powertrain whenever the driver eases off the accelerator at speeds between 50 and 160 km/h and does not apply the brakes at the same time, allowing for maximised fuel efficiency.
Along with the additional ECO PRO mode functions, the new BMW X5 xDrive25d also comes with many other BMW EfficientDynamics features. These include Brake Energy Regeneration, the Auto Start Stop function, on-demand operation of ancillary units, Electric Power Steering, low roll-resistance tyres and a variety of weight and drag-reducing features. Along with other measures, use of ultra-high-tensile steels in the body structure, thermoplastics in the side panels, aluminium in the bonnet and magnesium in the instrument panel support make the new BMW X5 xDrive25d the lightest vehicle in its class.
The new BMW X5 xDrive25d is now available for viewing at Performance Motors' showroom.
