22 Jul 2017|3,334 views
Audi is already providing the public with an insight into the mobility of the future - piloted driving on the autobahn. With demonstration drives on-board an Audi A7 piloted driving concept, selected brand customers and fans will get their first experience of piloted driving on the A9, north of Munich, Germany. Customer trips in the Audi A7 piloted driving concept, nicknamed Jack, will start in the myAudi Sphere at Munich airport.
The route will pass through the A9, which is part of the Digital Motorway Test Bed. An Audi expert will always be on-board and the piloted journey will take around 60 minutes under normal road conditions. After, the journey participants will be asked for their opinions, and their impressions will be incorporated into the development of future automated driving functions. The opportunity to ride in Jack will start on 20th July and run through to August.
Audi has been using the A7 piloted driving concept test vehicle on three continents since 2015. The experience from the test drives with Jack has been incorporated into the development of piloted driving. The highlight here is the central driver assistance controller (zFAS), which uses signals from all the sensors to continuously generate a detailed image of the car's surroundings. The zFAS - the size of a laptop - is fitted for the first time as standard in the new Audi A8.
