Volvo has launched the all new XC60 premium SUV, at an event held at the Volvo showroom on 31st August. The second-generation XC60 replaces the model that has become Volvo's top selling car worldwide, with almost a million units sold since its introduction in 2008, and accounts for 30 percent of Volvo’s total global sales.

These include Oncoming Lane Mitigation, which helps the driver avoid collisions with oncoming vehicles by automatically steering the car back into lane, and Run-off Road Mitigation, which helps to prevent unintentional departures from the road by using evasive steering manoeuvres. In addition, the City Safety collision avoidance system has also been enhanced by providing automatic braking and steering to help steer the driver away from potential collisions with vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists.
Aside from the safety systems, the new XC60 also comes with Volvo's XC60 IntelliSafe Assist semi-autonomous driving technologies as standard. IntelliSafe Assist brings together Adaptive Cruise Control, Distance Alert and Pilot Assist, which gives the car gentle steering input to keep the car aligned within the lane markings at speeds of up to 130km/h, marking another step towards full autonomous drive for Volvo.
At launch, the new XC60 will be available in T6 R-Design trim, which boasts of a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 320bhp and 400Nm of torque. The XC60 T5 Momentum, which has a 2.0-litre petrol turbo with 254bhp and 350Nm of torque, is expected to join the local line-up in October this year.
