COE premiums fall across all categories
17 Jan 2018|3,665 views
The second round of COE bidding in January saw premiums falling across all car categories.
Premiums for Cat B, larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc, went down by $2,628 (5.8 percent) and ended at $42,661.
In Cat E, the open category, pemiums decreased by $3,390 (7.2 percent), with premiums closing at $44,000.
The number of COE bids across all categories fell compared to the previous bidding exercise, which indicates lower demand.
On the back of the recently concluded Singapore Motor Show, the drop in demand is an indication of the suppressed buying sentiment in the car market at the moment. The new Vehicular Emissions Scheme (VES) may also have a part to play in this, as many car models have seen their prices affected by the new VES bandings.
