At the 2018 New York International Auto Show, Hyundai Motor is celebrating the world premiere of the new Hyundai Tucson. Designed and built in Europe, Hyundai's new compact Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) enters the market with a refreshed, eye-catching design, a revised powertrain lineup and more advanced technology and convenience features to satisfy modern customers' needs.
The Tucson's eye-catching exterior design is achieved by the cascading grille and a refined new light signature with full LED head lights as well as an uplifted front bumper, skid plate and a new wheel design.
The car is also equipped with new taillights as well as a redesigned rear bumper and muffler.
The Tucson is powered by two diesel and two petrol engines. The most powerful powertrain in this lineup is the 2.0-litre diesel engine with an output of 184bhp.
This high-performance engine comes with four-wheel drive and can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or optionally with the newly developed eight-speed automatic.
Alternatively, customers can choose between the newly developed 1.6-litre diesel engines with two power outputs - the standard version is capable of 114bhp and the higher power version offers 131bhp.
The new Tucson is also available with two petrol engines. The 1.6-litre GDI with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel-drive generates 130bhp.
There is also a 1.6-litre T-GDI engine delivering 174bhp, and can be mated to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, both available with front or four-wheel drive.
Customers can choose between class-leading comfort and convenience features, which consist of a premium sound system by Krell, a wireless QI standard based mobile phone charger and a 7.0-inch information screen, supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity.
For a more efficient and comfortable ride from A to B, the car can be equipped with an 8.0-inch navigation system, which offers 3D maps.
The latest Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driving assistance features available in the new Tucson include Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Warning and Speed Limit Indicator Function.
Furthermore, the safety package includes Hyundai's Surround View Monitor, which uses cameras to provide 360-degree vision during reversing. Using front radar sensors, the Tucson's Advanced Smart Cruise Control keeps constant speed and distance from the vehicle ahead by automatically accelerating and braking to ensure an efficient and safe ride.
