Nissan and Tan Chong Motor Sales, exclusive distributor of Nissan passenger and light commercial vehicles in Singapore, have announced the debut of its first electrified urban crossover - the all new Nissan Kicks e-POWER.
This is the second Nissan e-POWER model available in Singapore, after the Serena e-POWER, which has been well received by drivers in Singapore, and marks the first of its kind in the urban crossover segment.
Backed by more than 70 years of Electric Vehicle (EV) heritage, Nissan's proprietary e-POWER technology offers the driving performance and benefits of an EV yet eliminates the need for plug-in charging.
The Kicks e-POWER is a further testament to Nissan's commitment to fully electrifying its passenger car lineup in Singapore by 2022. This goal is aligned with the country's Land Transport Master Plan 2040, which aims to make its land transport sector more environmentally sustainable.
The e-POWER drivetrain comprises a petrol engine, power generator, inverter and a motor which delivers a 100% electric motor drive, meaning that the wheels are completely driven by the electric motor. The all new Kicks e-POWER's electric motor delivers 127bhp of power and 260Nm of instantaneous torque. Used solely to charge the battery, the 1.2-litre DOHC 12-valve, three-cylinder engine runs at a constant, optimal speed to deliver amazing fuel efficiency of 21.7km/L, with a low CO2 footprint of 107g/km.
One-Pedal Drive, Nissan's Intelligent Driving technology, allows drivers to accelerate, decelerate, or stop the vehicle by using only the accelerator pedal, drastically simplifying tasks such as judging the distance between cars, decelerating and stopping when going downhill or stopping for traffic lights.
The advanced regenerative braking of One-Pedal Drive technology is able to harness a high amount of energy back to recharge the battery and increase fuel efficiency.
As the newest member to Nissan's crossover range, the all new Kicks e-POWER combines emotion and practicality by blending Nissan design signatures with dynamic modern themes. Among those established design signatures are Nissan's bold V-Motion grille, boomerang head lights and taillights, and the floating roof with a wrap-around visor from the windscreen to side glass. The wide C-pillar is 'hidden' with a black finish that blends into the tailgate glass, while the floating roof has also been exaggerated, giving it a distinctive and eye-catching appeal. 17-inch alloy wheels complete the exterior design package.
The interior of all new Kicks e-POWER features a new instrument panel design with a 7.0-inch TFT full-colour instrument display, a D-shaped steering wheel with multi-function controls and Nissan's Zero Gravity seats finished in 3D-quilted Nappa leather.
This stylish and modern design complements the exterior, while offering generous passenger space and a class-leading trunk capacity of 432 litres.
For the first time, the new NissanConnect infotainment system is available in Singapore. It features an 8.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity, which provides added convenience to everyday life with functions like multi-touch control, USB connection, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, streaming audio via Bluetooth and hands-free text messaging assistant.
The all new Kicks e-POWER is also equipped with Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Start Assist, an Anti-lock Braking System and Nissan's Intelligent Trace Control (ITC) to provide a higher level of driving enjoyment.
ITC senses driving based on the driver's steering and acceleration/braking patterns, and controls brake pressure at individual wheels to aid tracing at corners and help smooth vehicle response.
The all new Kicks e-POWER offers a suite of Advanced Drivers' Assistance Systems such as Intelligent Driver Alertness, which helps detect driver fatigue and alerts the driver when erratic driving occurs, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Emergency Braking, which assists drivers to avoid collisions with vehicles and pedestrians ahead, and an Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, alongside key safety features like seven SRS airbags and enhanced body rigidity.
The all new Nissan Kicks e-POWER is available in two variants and retails from $99,888 inclusive of COE. It is available with a launch discount of $4,000 from 9 July until 22 July 2020, 12:00pm.
