Skoda has revealed a new estate version of its Superb executive car, which the Czech carmaker says contains a number of firsts for the brand

Measuring 4890mm long, 1820mm wide and 1510mm high, the Superb Combi measures the same as the Superb saloon, with the exception of the slightly increased height at the rear. Rear luggage space therefore has been increased to 633 litres, and goes up to 1865 litres with the seats folded down.

Among the technological advances that the Superb Combi offers is the KESSY system, which is Skoda’s own keyless entry system that allows the driver to lock, unlock and start the car without using a conventional key, and incorporates a start-button ignition.

Other innovations include the electronically-operated tailgate that also moves the boot cover, and is available as an option for the Combi. There is also an electrically controlled two-piece panoramic sunroof and the fin-shaped roof antenna.

Three petrol and two diesel engines are available for the Superb Combi, with a 1.4 TSI with 125bhp, a 1.8 TSI producing 160bhp and the range topping 3.6 FSI V6 with 360bhp comprising the petrol models. The diesel engines meanwhile include the 2.0 TDI PD with 140bhp and a 2.0 TDI CR DPF with 170bhp.

All cars will be available with either five or six-speed manual gearboxes or the optional DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. There will also be an optional all-wheel-drive system by Haldex available for the Superb Combi.
