BAIC is a minority shareholder in Koenigsegg, who are in negotiations to purchase Saab from General Motors, and reports say that BAIC are in the final stages of purchasing the tooling and design rights of the outgoing Saab 9-5.

If the deal goes ahead, it could see BAIC resuming production of the old Saab 9-5 under the BAIC badge, and the 'old' 9-5 could even be sold alongside the new one, which was recently unveiled by the Swedish carmaker and is produced at its Trollhatten factory in Sweden.

Details are still scarce at the moment, as Koenigsegg hasn't officially purchased Saab from General Motors, and BAIC has also yet to confirm as to whether it will resurrect the old 9-5, as the deal hasn't yet been completed.
