Tata has unveiled its Aria crossover MPV at the New Delhi Motor Show, with sales set to begin by the middle of the year

Tata is making its mark at its home motor show, displaying no less than 37 models at its massive motor show booth, including cars from Jaguar and Land Rover after the Indian car giant acquired the British brands in 2007. Among the domestic production models on display at New Delhi is the Aria crossover MPV, which was first shown as a concept five years ago, and will go into production later this year.

The Aria is powered by 2.2-litre direct-injection common-rail diesel engine, which produces 138bhp and 320Nm. Tata has not revealed performance figures, but said that an all-wheel-drive system that delivers torque variably to each wheel, depending on driving conditions, is available as an option for the Aria.

The height of the Aria is planned such that "passengers can simply walk into the Tata Aria, rather than climbing", according to the Indian carmaker. The seats can also be folded for increased cargo room, and the interior is well-equipped with features such as an infotainment unit with GPS, dual climate zones, and surround sound, as well as six airbags for safety.
