The new technology will result in an improvement to the fuel economy of the Panamera, with the system helping to save 0.7 litres per 100km off the fuel consumption of the Panamera Turbo model. When combined with the new optional low rolling-resistance 19-inch tyres, the Turbo's fuel consumption drops to 11.3 litres per 100km. For the Panamera S and 4S models, the technology will see a 0.5 litre per 100km improvement, to 10.3 and 10.6 litres per 100km respectively.

The energy recovery system works by generating electrical power from the brakes which can then be used to charge the car's battery. The technology also helps relieves the alternator current from having to charge the battery during acceleration, providing more energy to the engine and improving economy.

Porsche has also optimized its Auto Stop Start function for a quicker jump off the start. The new brake energy recuperation system will be fitted to all Panamera V8 models starting from this August.
