  • MINI Inspired by Goodwood, from Rolls-Royce

MINI has joined forces with fellow BMW brand Rolls-Royce to come up with a limited edition model, called the MINI Inspired by Goodwood

Only 1000 units of the unique special edition model will be produced at MINI’s factory in Oxford, and the name is inspired by Rolls-Royce own production plant in Goodwood, England. The first cars are expected to be delivered by early 2012.

The MINI Inspired by Goodwood is based on the Cooper S three-door hatchback model, and thus features a 1.6-litre twin-scroll turbocharged engine that produces 184bhp and 240Nm of torque. This enables it to go from 0-100km/h in 7 seconds.

The car was designed and developed under the guidance of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ designer team, and features bespoke styling cues and trim options. Externally, the MINI Inspired by Goodwood is painted in an exclusive Diamond Black metallic, with Reef Blue metallic available as an option. There are also 17-inch light alloy wheels with a multi-spoke design, and the usual special edition logos. The car retains the front and rear sports bumpers from the Cooper S, but deletes the front bonnet air scoop.

The most significant change is in the interior. The MINI Inspired by Goodwood comes with specially selected materials and trims from Rolls-Royce. The dashboard, including the surrounds of the central instrument and the air vents, the centre console, carpet surfaces, the Lounge leather seats, the roof lining as well as the door, side and body pillar cladding boast the exclusive Rolls-Royce colour Cornsilk. The dashboard and door handle surfaces, which are manufactured in Goodwood, are trimmed in Walnut Burr veneers.

Other highlights include the black Nappa leather dashboard top, Leather Cornsilk door linings, Piano Black surface finishes for the buttons, Cashmere roof linings, a Rolls-Royce inspired typeface for the instruments and lamb’s wool floor mats.

Standard equipment on the MINI Inspired by Goodwood include Xenon Adaptive Headlights, Park Distance Control, automatic air conditioning, an on-board computer and the audio system Radio MINI Visual Boost, which includes the Harman Kardon hi-fi speaker system.
