The Civic joins the CR-V crossover SUV in having its launched delayed due to the flood crisis in Thailand, and the Japanese carmaker confirmed that production of the all-new Civic has been disrupted due to the catastrophe.
"We are closely watching the supply chain situation," John Kingston, Honda Europe manager for corporate affairs said during the press launch of the hatchback in Malaga, Spain. "Right now we fear the new Civic introduction will be delayed by three to four weeks."
Honda Europe had issued a press statement saying that from October 31, its UK factory that manufactures the 5-door Civic, among other cars, will temporarily reduce its weekly production volume because of parts shortages caused by the Thai floods. The Japanese company had plans to deliver the ninth-generation Civic hatchback to dealers in the U.K. and Germany in late January but now the date has been pushed back to the end of February.
