The Peugeot RCZ proves itself to be a winner yet again, as it was announced the Car Of The Year at the New Straits Times/Maybank Car of the Year Awards 2011 held in Malaysia on 25 November 2011.
It was named both the overall ‘Car of the Year’ as well as ‘Coupe/Cabriolet of the Year’ at the awards, receiving the most votes from the ‘Car of the Year’ panel of nine judges for its striking looks, stylish interior, competitive pricing as well as refined handling dynamics and safety features.
The New Straits Times/Maybank Car of the Year Awards 2011 comprised 44 new models or re-engineered facelift models introduced between October 2010 and October 2011, in the running for awards in 14 categories. The overall winner of the Car of the Year was selected from the winners of these 14 categories.
This award is yet another addition to an impressive list of accolades already gleaned by the RCZ since it was unveiled internationally at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2009. Its international awards include the “Most Beautiful Car of the Year” at the prestigious 25th International Automobile Festival in 2009. It was awarded this honour based on voting by over 100,000 people from 62 countries and marked the fourth time Peugeot had won the award.
As further testament to its superior design and sleek embodiment of style, innovation and luxury, the RCZ was also named ‘Coupé of the Year 2010’ by Top Gear (UK) magazine, ‘Best Sports Car of the Year 2010’ by Diesel Car magazine and Fleet World magazine’s ‘Design of the Year 2010’. It also bagged the honour of ‘Best Coupé’, as well as ‘Best Design’ at the Auto Express New Car Awards 2010, triumphing contenders including Audi TT and VW Scirocco.
Sporting an innovative body type that is both sporty and elegant, the Peugeot RCZ is truly a triumph of style and technical prowess. With its distinct “double bubble” roof and rear windscreen, the RCZ’s silhouette is a unique result of outstanding technical expertise in originality and aerodynamic performance that leads it to stand out amongst its peers. Style and design aside, its generous 384-litre boot capacity, effective road handling and optimized fuel consumption do not fail to impress, truly making the RCZ the car to look out for this year.
