Russia is usually associated with cold weather and vodka and not much with automobiles. Yet a new company is emerging to change that perception.

Unlike Europe which is home to automaker haven like Ferrari, Audi, Volkswagen, Renault, Jaguar, koenigsegg among a few others, Russia does not strike a chord with the automotive industry. It is not that they do not exist, its jKst that they are ‘low key.’

Yet a new, four-door coupe from the land of the Kremlin, might change that taught. The TagAz Aquila, a car from Russia is set to be launched later this year. The Aquila, is described as a four-door coupe, something similar to the Mercedes CLS, though the Aquila will carry high-end aesthetics, an extensive equipment list, and most importantly an affordable price tag. Hmm, we’re listening (Or in this case, reading).

The Aquila will contain a modest 1.6-litre powertrain with somewhere around 130bhp if it is naturally aspirated, and mated to a five-speed manual transmission. On top that, the equipment list includes ABS, dual airbags, power steering, heated power windows, parking sensors, and a rear view camera among others. Not too stingy we must say.

Entering a industry that has too many heavyweights and established companies with a long history list, the TagAz need to establish themselves. The Aquila is a good stepping stone and it would be certainly beneficial if the starting prices are competitive.

The only vibe we have on this car is its styling which looks mashed up and inspired by different car models.
