The controversial yet widely successful BMW X6 has other automakers scrambliing to the design boards. BMW has created a new segment that will see vehicles like the Audi Q6 and the Mercedes MLC, coupe crossover vehicles to rival the X6.
Now Volkswagen might be joining the party too. According to German sites Volkswagen is "seriously" considering a Touareg CC to be launched in 2015 as a 2016 model. Currently there are little details available though expect next-generation model styling with a coupe silhouette. However expect styling to be lifted from the Cross Coupe SUV concept which Volkswagen unveiled at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show which hinted a cross between a four-door coupe and an SUV.
The VW Touareg has been in production since 2002 with the second generation model on sale since 2010. The Touareg crossover is related to the Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne.
