Mazda have only just officially unveiled the new 2013 Mazda6 at the Moscow Motor show but it would appear it have some quickfire plans to make the Mazda6 even hotter by introducing several variants, or at least in the plans.
Speaking at the event, Mazda's Chief Designer Akira Tamatani confirmed a coupe is under consideration. He said, "There is no decision, but I would love to make one." Tamatani added, "The first job is to make the saloon and estate, but from this position, a coupe is not so far away."
On the other hand, their Program Manager Hiroshi Kajiyama also revealed the company is evaluating an all-wheel drive system for the model. He said, "There are no set plans, but we are studying the possibility of introducing all-wheel drive - it would be a good weapon with which to establish the brand."
It is reported that in a separate interview, Kajiyama had said a high performance Mazda6 is also being considered. He did not go into the specifics but suggested it could be lighter than the current model.
Whatever it is, it seems Mazda has a grand plan for their Mazda6, so stay tuned for more details in the coming days.
