Volkswagen must be all smiles today as Porsche has just released its sales figures for the month of August. The Stuttgart based carmaker delivered a total of 10,912 vehicles a figure that is up by 20.8 percent compared to the same month last year.
From the start of 2012, Porsche has sold 92,474 vehicles - a 15.0 percent increase compared to the same period in 2011. Interestingly Porsche saw profits even in the financially unstable European region. Main sales figures were contributed thanks to the new 911, the new Boxster roadster and the Cayenne.
"Currently, the automotive markets are developing quite differently: uncertainty in Europe, competitive pressures in China, confidence in the U.S., growth in the Middle East and South-East Asia," said Bernhard Maier, Porsche AG board member.
"Thanks to our strong brand, along with the most attractive range of models of all time, we are still on the course for growth. At the auto show in Paris, we shall surprise the world with an additional product highlight," he added.
While Maier did not reveal much, it is known Porsche has been working on several new models like the Macan compact SUV, the 911 GT3 and the 918 Spyder. We highly suspect it to be the production version of the 918 Spyder which was revealed to certain closed door guests.
