Already previewed prior to the Paris Motor Show, the concept B-Class Electric Drive combines signature Mercedes comfort, enjoyable driving experience suitable for everyday use with Gaia saving green (or in this case blue) technology. The car might lack an engine and thus CO2 emissions, but still retains high safety standards found in the brand.
The 'three pointed star' marque claims it takes less than ten seconds to complete the century sprint before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 150 km/h. Lost kinetic energy from braking and deceleration is recovered to feed the batteries.
Cosmetically, the B-Class EV has different bumpers and new side skirts. The charging unit is cleverly concelaed behind the filler flap. The B-Class EV is finished in a Avatar friendly (and may we say blinding) reflective blue colour highlighting the car's emission-free status. Not to mention it adds a certain 'Bling-Bling' factor that the current iCrowd might appreciate.
The cabin is finished in black, white and crystal grey with soft nappa dominating the steering wheel and seats among other areas, highlighted by a turquoise blue stitching. The head restraints are embroidered with an Electric Drive logo, while the instrumentation panel has been designed according to the motto - keep it clean.
Remote checking and configuration of the vehicle is possible, thus allowing the driver to study the current charge status of the battery or to confirm the vehicle's range via the internet. That is one nifty feature we have to say.
