As if lifted from an episode of 'greatest police chases' the local road rage drama started at 0800hrs along Choa Chu Kang Way when a local lorry driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a road divider.
According to a local Chinese newspaper the driver continued on and hit a traffic light and three vehicles - two cars and a taxi in the opposite direction. He still did not stop or exit the lorry to inspect the damage. To the contrary, the lorry driver reversed his vehicle onto Choa Chu Kang Way and minutes later knocked down a roadside traffic sign.
After causing damage to a road divider, traffic light and three vehicles, the lorry managed to continue for another 100 metres. Soon after the engines stalled at the junction of Choa Chu Kang Way and Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3, obstructing an SMRT bus. The 49-year-old bus driver then sounded his horn, only to gain the anger of the furious lorry driver. The lorry driver then boarded the bus and struck the bus driver on his face and left eye. The bus was not in service and was travelling empty.
Finally, after the Police intervened following a request call, the road rage ended and both drivers were taken to the National University Hospital (NUH). The lorry driver was arrested for suspected driving under the influence of drugs. An SMRT spokesman confirmed one of the company's staff sustaining injuries and received medical treatment at NUH. He also mentioned SMRT is assisting the police with investigations.
