David Chang, 40, was suspended from driving for three and a half years and was fined $11,500 for an accident dated January 21st. He dozed off at the wheel of his sister's Suzuki Swift and hit an elderly couple while on his way home, after spending around 15 hours in a casino at Resorts World Sentosa.
Driving along Telok Blangah Road at noon time, with little sleep, he dozed off for what seemed like a split second which was enough to cause a fatal accident to an elderly couple waiting at a bus stop to cross the road. David's Suzuki also mounted the kerb and damaged an advertisement board and a tree.
73-year old Yeo Ah Bah died of several multiple injuries in hospital two hours later while his wife Ler Sock Hua, 70, suffered injuries to her leg and foot. Ler Sock Hua had difficulties moving for a month and is still not fully recovered almost a year after the accident.
David could have been jailed for up to two years and fined up to $10,000.
