Redemption is never too late as the automaker has now finally made the decision to give the Rodius a makeover. Developed over the course of two years, as the A150 project, the new Rodius adopts a "Robust, Premium, Specialty" design philosophy.
Styled to be fit for outdoor, off-road driving as well as on-road driving with its streamline-shaped radiator grille and headlamp, the new Rodius also offers a whole package of convenience and practical values by fulfilling various needs from business, leisure, and travel. There's also a full-length character line, a familiar greenhouse and wraparound taillights.
Ssangyong confirmed the model will be offered with a 3.2-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine, with the latter likely to develop 155bhp and 360Nm of torque.
The Ssangyong Rodius (otherwise known as Stavic and Korando Turismo) has been on the market for some nine years but its design was never truly accepted by consumers. In fact, it was voted several times as the ugliest car in production. Ironically, the model was originally designed by Ken Greenley, former Head of the Automotive Design Course at the Royal College of Art in London.
