A cyclist was hit and ran over by a private bus yesterday during the morning rush hour. The accident took place at Jurong Pier road, where the private bus was operating on a ferry service to send workers to and from Jurong Island.
Speaking to the local media, passengers recalled how the bus hit something as it slowed to negotiate a corner. The cyclist was found pinned under the bus after moving a few metres before it came to a halt.
The man is believed to be a Bangladesh national, and was taken to the National University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The bus driver is reportedly a seasoned worker in the transport firm, having worked for almost 20 years. He is now assisting the Police in investigations.
