Scion - Toyota's youth-oriented American brand - will present the convertible version of the 86 in concept guise at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The concept aims to deliver the same lively, highly engaging and accessible performance and dynamic abilities of the 86 - with the added 'wind in your hair' experience.
It measures up to its coupe counterpart, though the hard-top is replaced by a multi-layered fabric roof with a glass rear screen which does not conflict with the cargo space. The 86 uses the same platform and powertrain as the coupe.
The concept car is finished in a special pure bright white and navy blue colour scheme designed by Toyota Boshoku Milan Design (TBMD) to capture the spirit and atmosphere of Milan.
Inside, the perforated white leather upholstery is layered over a navy blue backing, with golden yellow accent stitching and carpets.
Toyota has pinpointed certain areas that needs to be reassessed for a cabriolet design so that it doesn't hinder the original coupe's performance, vehicle rigidity, balance, weight and aerodynamics.
