In the third quarter, Mercedes-Benz sold 368,201 vehicles and recorded a growth of 18 percent partly due to positive response from United States and China.
Moreover Mercedes-Benz expanded its market shares in Europe, having delivered 71,085 vehicles to customers in September while the firm achieved particularly strong growth for the month in the U.K., in Turkey and in Russia.
In China, the third quarter was particularly successful after delivering 56,992 vehicles, which recorded a growth of 26.3 percent. This means one in six new Mercedes-Benz vehicles being sold were to a customer in China. Mercedes-Benz also remained as the most-registered premium brand in Japan and the United States.
Much of this growth can be attributed to the compact models and the facelifted E-Class along with the new flagship S-Class which leads the way of new vehicle registrations in Germany.
"Never before has Mercedes-Benz sold more vehicles in a single month than this September. The new S-Class is already the distinct market leader in Germany and Europe. Our compacts and the new E-Class are also proving hugely popular with customers. Looking at the previous nine months, we can safely say that Mercedes-Benz will post another sales record for 2013," said Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars.
Mercedes-Benz has sold 142,994 cars in the month of September - a record best in its 87-year history. The six-figure amounted to a 15.9 percent growth, while for the past nine months of the year 1,062,638 units have been sold.
