With the facelifted Peugeot 5008, the compact MPV now adorns a familiar face that is in line with the rest of the enhanced Peugeot range, including the 208, 2008, all new 308 and 3008 Crossover. The mid-life refresh features significant external changes to enhance visual appeal of the seven-seater along with internal upgrades, a higher specification and new equipment.
Key to the 5008's appeal will be the latest Peugeot family face with the floating front grille that is allegdly a hit with U.K. buyers purchasing the 208 and 2008. It's flanked by redesigned headlamps with a bold LED signature trait.
The front and rear parking assistance are supplemented by a reverse camera - with the display indicating the outline of the vehicle in its surroundings using coloured markings. Additionally, the available space measurement system informs the driver when the size of a parking space is suitable.
A single glance at the head-up display allows you to be informed of the speed of the vehicle and the distance from the vehicle in front allowing visual continued visual contact between the driver and the road. The angle and brightness of the polycarbonate strip are controlled by means of switches on the centre console. The screen for the audio-navigation and the trip computer on the dashboard is retractable.
Five individually retractable seats - three in the second row and another two behind - fold to create a flat floor to transport a large amount of cargo while the folding front passenger seat eliminates the hindrance in ferrying longer cargo.
The 5008 is available in Access trim - powered by a 120bhp rated 1.6-litre VTi power unit. A more powerful 156bhp rated, 1.6-litre THP unit mated to a six-speed manual shifter (against a five-speeder in the 120bhp) is also available with an economy rating of 40.4mpg and CO2 163g/km.
An entry level diesel model is the 1.6-litre HDi FAP, churning out 115bhp, while returning 56.4mpg and emitting 128g/km of CO2. Alternatively the same engine can be linked to a ETG6 (Efficient Tronic Gearbox) transmission for a economical rating of 65.7mpg and CO2 at 113g/km.
Two additional, 2.0-litre oil burners, rated at 150bhp and 163bhp are available with a six-speed manual and six-speed automaitc gearbox respectively. They return 53.3mpg and CO2 at 138g/km for the manual and 44.8mpg and CO2 at 164g/km for the automatic.
