The MCF Hangout with SEAT gave MCF members an opportunity to get up close and personal with the new SEAT Ateca and the SEAT Arona, as well as the rest of the Spanish marque's award-winning lineup.

Ever since Vertex Euro Motors revived the SEAT brand in Singapore, it has been reaching out to existing fans and new ones alike. The latest of which involved an evening with MyCarForum (MCF) members at its Ubi showroom.

Customary of any MCF Hangout, attendees got up close and personal with SEAT's several award-winning models, with the new Ateca and Arona SUV models as the stars of the event.

The evening kicked off with an introduction to SEAT, which was founded on 9th May 1950, by the Instituto Nacional de Industria, a state-owned industrial holding company. Since 1986 it has been a wholly owned subsidiary of the German Volkswagen Group, enabling it to technologies such as TSI engines and dual-clutch DSG transmissions.

SEAT is currently headquartered in Martorell near Barcelona, Spain. It is also only the major Spanish car manufacturer with the ability and the infrastructure to develop its own cars in-house.

The introduction also saw the Editorial Team of sgCarMart.com sharing their experiences behind the wheels of the Ateca, SEAT's first ever SUV, and the Arona, SEAT's new compact crossover for the urban jungle.

Content Developer Idris Talib shared that the Ateca comes packed with ample features as standard, whilst retaining its practicality as an SUV, with a large 485-litre boot space.

"The SEAT Ateca, named after the Spanish town of Ateca in Aragon, proves to offer the best of many worlds with its sharp looks, smooth drive and multitude of features, such as SEAT Area View and Blindspot Assist," he said.

At the same time, Deputy Editor Nigel Yong, too, shared his thought on the SEAT Arona. The SEAT Arona is built on the Volkswagen Group's new small car platform, known as MQB A0, which also underpins the SEAT Ibiza and the Volkswagen Polo.

"The Arona's 1.0-litre feels gutsier than one would initially imagine, with an ample amount of torque to help you zip through city traffic. Like the Ateca, it's also armed with a wealth of features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Assist and a Tiredness Recognition System, which are all mighty impressive for a car that costs under $100,000," he said.

"More importantly, with the Arona, SEAT has triumphed where so many others don't by building a compact crossover with a big 400-litre boot," he added.

Once MCF members had an idea of the cars they would be test driving, SEAT's consultants were on hand to accompany them as they took to the roads, witnessing for themselves just how well-packaged the cars are.

But apart from the Ateca, the Arona, the Leon and the Ibiza, which were available for testing that evening, one more model also caught the eye of many - the subtle but ever so deadly Leon Cupra.

Now in its third generation, the Leon Cupra is SEAT's answer to some of the world's best hot hatches. It has made its name for not only the superior power output it offers compared to its cousin the Volkswagen Golf GTI, but also the outstanding way in which it delivers its performance.

And of course, no MCF Hangout is complete without a wide spread buffet dinner and lucky draws, of which saw MCF members walking away with attractive prizes such as a JBL Bar 2.1-Channel Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer, Google Home and an action camera that evening.
