Tyre shine is applied to tyres to make them look shiny, clean and new. There are many different formulas of tyres shine and two major categories are: solvent-based and water-based. Water-based shines are often a milky-white liquid and willw not harm rubber over time. They are typically a combination of naturally occurring oils and synthetic polymers that provide a very nice, non-greasy, satin-like finish. Solvent-based shines are often a clear, greasy, sticky liquid, and leaves a wet, glossy film on the tyre surface. Solvent-based products use a hydrocarbon silicone whereas water-based products use water.
